So I had an absolute blast last night.  My band opened for a super talented group, and we also covered a Motörhead song, which has been a bucket list item of mine for a while now.  It was a super great show, I hope to play with the band again in the future honestly.

I'm picking this song though (since I already shared Ace Of Spades a while ago and that's the song we covered) since the singer for the band we opened for and his girlfriend are dressing up a Sid and Nancy for their halloween show.  Made me think of these guys (obviously I suppose) and I realized I have hardly shared any of the music from the biggest 1 album band to exist (total speculation on my part).  So yeah, here it is, haha

Green Day - Are We The Waiting/St. Jimmy

I don't care what people say, Green Day has some good music.  Like, after putting out this album, it literally became a Rock Opera on Broadway.  That's really cool dude, like, what the heck.

I really only wanted to share the song St. Jimmy (which starts at 2:42), but there's no official version that's separate for me.  I dunno dude, I like the song by itself, I don't feel like it needs the previous track to support it, ya know?  It's got so much energy though, it's a fantastic kick in the pants that I think a lot of people can appreciate.

What is great about the pairing though is the stark contrast between styles.  One is a slow, contemplative song, while the other burns out at an incredible pace.

Episode 3 in the laundromat files.  I was planning on sitting here listening to the Myths and Legends podcast (which is incredibly good), but since I have no service I am forced to listen to the only playlist I currently have downloaded to my phone, the Punk Rock playlist.

While I’m jamming out to all my favorites though, there’s still a huge pile of songs I haven’t had a chance to post yet, so here’s a pretty good one.  I remember the first time I had heard of this band I mostly wrote them off.  The only reason I did that was because I confused them with a different band I had heard years before call The Almost that had a singer with a really annoying voice.  The same friend who gave me some songs from The Almost also gave me some stuff from Anti-Flag, and I suppose in my head they go mixed up a little.

All good though, cause this is a fun little Punk tune to jam out to, enjoy!  Also, can we appreciate this hair?  It's fantastic.

They're a fun band though, lots of cool little things going on with their sound and stuff like that.  I'm a fan of how a lot of their music feels like it's made out of clips.  It's just cool, ya know?

Rancid - Roots Radical

So I'll try and limit my Punk songs since this is like, 3 in a row now and 5 within a week.  The song is so positive and bouncy though, I couldn't resist.  Rancid has become one of my favorite bands over the last week or so, I hope you guys enjoy it!

Also, may as well mention it, the first day at the barbershop went great!  I was only there limited hours since on Saturday they open about two hours earlier than I thought, but it was still great.  I'm back again on Tuesday and as soon as I actually move to Corry I'll be able to be there at 8am on Saturday instead of the usual 10am of the week.  More sleep time between the end of third shift and work, ya know?

Billy Talent - Time-Bomb Ticking Away

I figured I'd share one of my current favorite late night tunes and plug my podcast tonight.

So song wise, this is quite possibly my favorite Punk song right now.  The little break right before the chorus is just really nifty, and the singer has the quintessential "punk singer voice" that sounds kinda like a bastardized english accent, even though their from Canada.  My brother and I have a theory that the accent came from a bunch of American Punk bands listening to some of the classics that were based in England, and unconsciously copied the accent.

Podcast wise, my first episode is live!  It's mostly a comedy podcast, and due to my cohosts it's a bit of a wild time sometimes, but I had a blast recording it and I think it's hilarious.  You can check it out here, and there's also links from there to find it on Stitcher, iTunes, and Google Play.  So like, yeah, good times.

Misfits - Last Caress

Now I'm a fan of dark content in art, music, and movies.  Weird creepy art is some really interesting stuff to look at, and horror has been my favorite genre for the last couple years.  What I really need though, is to be able to understand the context, at least a little, of the dark terrible thing.

I don't understand for this song.

Like, what I'm operating off of is it's like it is just to be offensive.  There's a certain attitude behind that I can get, and it's a Punk way of thinking for sure.  Not having grown up in the era that this was released in, I just don't fully understand the reason for having a song like this.

Now I love the song, musically it's literally everything I look for in a Punk tune, I just don't get the lyrics.

So Sum 41 is a band I never really listened to for whatever reason.  I feel like because they were a band who's name I actually recognized I assumed they were a band for emo kids.  My view of bands and music was hella weird back in the day you see.

They're not bad though, I'm really happy to have them on my Punk playlist.  They have some great energy and feel really familiar to me, so I probably heard them at least a little bit way back when.

Dropkick Murphys - The State Of Massachusetts

So I'm slowly getting more familiar with how RSS feeds work.  Squarespace has a lot of information on it, and YouTube is filled with some great informative stuff that helps me get different explanations on it.  If all goes well I think I can even get on Apple Podcasts, so life is pretty good on the podcast front.  Even have a logo worked up, which I'm rather happy with.  Check it y'all, it's really decent.

I figured for today we'd listen to some of the melodious tones of Dropkick Murphys.  Every time I give them a listen I fall in love a little bit more, so I hope you can enjoy them as much as I do.  It's a nifty Irish feeling these guys bring to their Boston selves, so I'd recommend checking it out.
