I don't care what people say, Green Day has some good music.  Like, after putting out this album, it literally became a Rock Opera on Broadway.  That's really cool dude, like, what the heck.

I really only wanted to share the song St. Jimmy (which starts at 2:42), but there's no official version that's separate for me.  I dunno dude, I like the song by itself, I don't feel like it needs the previous track to support it, ya know?  It's got so much energy though, it's a fantastic kick in the pants that I think a lot of people can appreciate.

What is great about the pairing though is the stark contrast between styles.  One is a slow, contemplative song, while the other burns out at an incredible pace.

Green Day - Holiday

Here's the last artist I could think of from the pre-iPod days of my music.  Honestly I can't really remember if this was back with the mp3 player or if it was on the iPod, but It's close enough to either one, so we'll go with it.

While Green Day put out some questionable music recently (except Revolution Radio), American Idiot was a really solid album.  I had only heard Holiday for the longest time, but that's not too bad since it has a wicked drum groove to it.  One of my earlier Punk influences too, though I'm pretty sure that The Clash managed to beat them out, especially for number of songs and general play time.

Green Day - Bang Bang

I suppose it's fitting that I talk about a lot of Punk Rock on the month I decided to rant about some of my favorite Grind bands, considering Grind is straight up descended from the Hardcore Punk scene.  Not Green Day's style of Punk, more the  angry side of Punk.  Just thought I'd drop that tidbit though, we'll talk about it more later I'm sure.

I've said it before when I posted another song from this album, but my goodness this album wasn't bad at all.  All in all the songs were a return to the Green Day sound that I personally liked more, so obviously I enjoyed it more, ya dig?

This is probably one of my favorite tracks on the album, it's got a nifty Saint Jimmy vib to it.  Saint Jimmy was hands down my favorite track on American Idiot so having something that reminds me of it is just straight gold for me.

I hope ya like it, it's a good high energy piece.

Green Day - Revolution Radio

Just call me Mr. Late-To-The-Party, but I only just started listening to the new Green Day album maybe a week ago.  I have since decided that it's about a million times better than the triple release they did a few years ago though.  Like, my goodness, that triple album was just not really good.  They are way too far into their career to manage releasing a triple like they did.  Maybe back in the American Idiot era, but not after 21st Century Breakdown.

All in all Revolution Radio has about as many good songs on it as ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tre! combined, which is to say more than half of this album and only about 7 of the 37 songs off of the triple.

I feel like I'm really trashing on the last release, but my goodness it was bad.

This is good though, and that's what counts. eh?

Green Day - Minority

So yeah, this is probably the worst time I could pick to share this song considering the massive uproar in the wake of the election that refuses to die down or resolve, but I'm posting it anyway cause I like it.

This is a catchy tune at the end of one of my favored Green Day albums and it's been stuck in my head for the last few days, hence I'm posting it.  Sometimes I plan things, sometimes things plan me.

Green Day - Kill The DJ

I'm gonna be entirely honest, yesterday started as one of the worst days I've had in a really long time.  The loops I had spent all week making were ruined because GarageBand was stupid, which was a pretty miserable thing to have happen.  After that though things started to look up when I went to my work meeting.  I feel like a lot of good information got passed along to everybody and since it was my first solo project as head of back of house training I'll call it a success.

I like this song.  I don't know what I like about it really other than it's simple and easy to get into.  Much like a lot of their music I guess, go figure.

Green Day - Longview

Well this song has a really fun bass line that is both easy and hard to learn.

In general though it's a song I have no issues with, so that's good, right?

For real though, I apologize for not getting this post up till 5am.  I might be a little late on a couple this week cause I have a lot of really full days coming up.  I've got a spare hour or two today that I could probably get some stuff knocked out in if I don't just fall asleep somewhere though, so we'll see.

Green Day - Brain Stew

You know, while I'm on the topic of Godzilla we may as well mention the Godzilla version of the Green Day song Brain Stew.

It's like normal Green Day, but way better cause you've got Godzilla in it.  This is the first version of Brain Stew that I ever heard by the way, so it holds a special place as the better version to me.

A to Z Challenge: N is for Nimrod

Everybody loves Green Day, right?  Either that or everybody thinks they're overrated, I can never remember which it is.

This is one of their slightly older albums, before the whole American Idiot thing that made them super popular again.

I really like this album a lot, though if I think about it it's super freaking generic.  All of their stuff is though, that's kinda the draw of Green Day.  It's reasonably solid music, and you always know what you're getting in to.

So I like these tracks more than some others though.

Green day is a band that a good many people feel are over rated.  I'll agree that a lot of their stuff isn't as good as what some people say, but they still have some catchy tunes, right?

This is off the album Nimrod, and it's a song that I happen to enjoy a lot.

Apologies for the lack of content here, I forgot to write this post yesterday and it's late now.

Hollywood Undead - Lump Your Head

I may have said this before, but I like this band a lot more then I probably should.

One of the things I like though is that this song is almost in an old style.  It's amusing to me at least.  I also like how Funny Man does that Louis Armstrong voice in the chorus part.

Fun fact, the verse of this song is the same as the verse to Green Day's song Hitchin' A Ride.  Other songs too, but that's the only one that comes to mind.  In face, both Green Day and Hollywood Undead do this a lot.  The simple chord progression that is, not copy each other stuff.

Green Day - Warning

As fun as the Week Of Evil was, I kinda like the fact that we're slowing back down to normaler music.  It was hard dredging through music I don't listen to as much to try and find the evil and "evil" music for ya.

Back down to earth again, (or climbing back up.  Whatever) we have Green Day with Warning.

Green Day has been around for a very long time now.  Since about 1987 ish if memory serves.  You have probably heard something off of the album Dookie, since that has at least 4 singles on it.  We're playing one of the lesser publicized works though, so that we can be a bunch of freaking hipsters.

Warning was released in 2000, which seems to be the middle of when Green Day was in a pile of anonymity.  Quite honestly, they dropped off of the radar for a lot of people till American Idiot came out in 2004.

One thing I like about this song is it keeps a good pace going without sounding like it's trying.  The fact that it's played on an acoustic helps this a lot, and during the more intense parts it has a really cool sound to it.

It's a really funny video too.  You get to watch a guy literally break all the rules.
