Frank Sinatra - My Way

Artist: Frank Sinatra
Song: My Way
Album: Eh, I dunno
Genre: Pop

I just realized I never made this post live when I finished it this afternoon, which I suppose put's it right in line with the ending attitude of how things have gone here.  That's ok though, cause I managed to save this song till the end of everything, and that's what counts.

Well here we are, the end of all the posts that have lasted 4 full years.  Though we sometimes had posts that didn't go live till 11:30 pm, not a day was missed in the grand scheme of posting.  I'm super happy with how this whole project played out, and I'm super grateful to any and everybody who stuck around for any length of time.  I didn't actually think I'd end up finishing this any time soon, I actually have posts planned out, peppered throughout the next year or two for the special occasion weeks.

I'll come back for stuff like that here and there, and I hope to get back on a weekly thing once life calms down again.

The cool stuff though?  My band is doing super great, you can actually hear us play if you check out this video (I play bass on the left).  My podcast is picking up too, we've got the switch to weekly episodes coming up, and I'm super excited.  You can keep up with that right over here if you want to hear me and my friends be immature and just having a good time.  And work wise the whole barber life is treating me well.  Moving to a small town has been great for my budget, and the people here aren't too bad at all.

I'm glad to have shared such a long portion of my life with you guys, here's to coming back in the future.

Hollywood Undead - Everywhere I Go

Band: Hollywood Undead
Song: Everywhere I Go
Album: Swan Songs (2008)
Genre: Rap Rock

Here's to the band I posted 11 times from the start of this blog in 2014 to October of last 2016.  Hot dang, I apparently loved this band that I hardly listen to now.

It's super nostalgic for me to listen to these guys again though, like, I listened to this album probably about 50 times over the course of 2014-2015 when I first was really listening to the band.  I just find all their stuff so freaking funny, you know?  These lyrics are so absurd, I can't help but smile the whole time I listen to it.

Mushroomhead - We Are The Truth

Band: Mushroomhead
Song: We Are The Truth
Album: ?
Genre: Nu-Metal

I'm not sure what this recording is from, as it differs from the original on The Righteous And The Butterfly.  I suppose they remade it since they've swapped out most of the vocalists at this point, and I suppose I'm not opposed it it.  I'm glad I found it in the area of Halloween since it's a fun creepy video, but I don't really get what's going on with the track.

It sounds fantastic though, they did good work with it, so I won't complain too much about it.

Eminem - Killshot

Artist: Eminem
Song: Killshot
Album: Single (2018)
Genre: Rap, Hip Hop
Language: Strong

Well I would be a bad blog if I didn't highlight the response to Rap Devil that Em dropped yesterday.  Like, yo, this is a brutal song.  I knew I had said some really solid thing about MGK's track, but there's no way it held up to what Eminem had to say.  It's a shame, but Eminem is an incredibly literate person who is ready to throw a dictionary at you, and he did here.

I look forward to seeing how this develops, but realistically this is probably the last entry in this beef.

Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face (Live)

Band: Cannibal Corpse
Song: Hammer Smashed Face
Show: Wacken Open Air (2007)
Genre: Death Metal
Language: Strong

I feel like it's important for me to return to some of my roots as we come to the end of regular postings here, so I did a deep dig in my old post list, and found that Cannibal Corpse was the 12th band I ever posted, and that was an album review.  I actually ended up posting the studio version of this song just 20 days after that.

As that was back in 2014 though, I feel I'm totally justified in sharing the song again, as it's highlighting the lice show that CC can bring.  Behold Corpsegrinder's gigantic neck, it's the stuff of legends.  He's also a huge World Of Warcraft fan, hence the Horde logo tattooed on his arm.

Soilwork - Figure # 5

Band: Soilwork
Song: Figure # 5
Album: Figure Number Five
Genre: Melodic Death Metal
Language: Strong

So one of the reasons yesterday's post was so freaking late is because my band was actually invited to guest on a radio show!  Super good times, if I get a copy of the audio I'll be sure to post it for y'all.  But yeah, I didn't manage to get home till like, 11pm, so my attempts to catch up on missing a post didn't go well.  Went live before midnight though, and that's what counts.

Today's band is a really solid outfit from Sweden, Soilwork.  These are some guys that, while I don't listen to them as much as I used to, I still consider one of my more favorite bands.  This song especially has some really strong energy to it, kicking in super strong right off the bat.  I'm hoping to catch them live someday, I've heard really good things about their live shows.

Ed Sheeran - Galway Girl

Artist: Ed Sheeran
Song: Galway Girl
Album: Divide (2017)
Genre: Pop Acoustic

If I post before midnight, it technically means I didn't miss a day yet, and that's what counts.

My goodness though, I didn't think I'd have this kind of trouble getting posts out now that I'm down to 1 job, but here it is.  I'll have a more inspired pick go live tomorrow, I promise.  Still though, this is a really good song that I enjoy a lot personally.  Screw the fact that he's straight up stealing my classic red T under a black jacket look in this picture.  What the heck dude, that's been my thing for the last 6 years.

The Stranglers - No More Heroes

Band: The Stranglers
Song: No More Heroes
Album: No More Heroes (1977)
Genre: Rock

What a wonderful band to listen to, and an even more wonderful band to watch.  I'm a huge fan of when bands don't take pre-recorded shows too seriously, and you can see right here that these guys are just having a good old time.

Thanks for the recommendation Roland, I'm adding some of these guy's song to my playlist for work right away.

Motörhead - Killed By Death

Band: Motörhead
Song: Killed By Death
Album: No Remorse (1984)
Genre: Speed Metal

Oh hey, I just rediscovered one of my favorite Motörhead songs, so here's a great little song called Killed By Death.  I mean, most all of Motörhead's old school tunes are fantastic, so that's no surprise.

Sex Pistols - Holidays In The Sun

Band: Sex Pistols
Song: Holidays In The Sun
Album: Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols (1977)
Genre: Punk Rock

So I had an absolute blast last night.  My band opened for a super talented group, and we also covered a Motörhead song, which has been a bucket list item of mine for a while now.  It was a super great show, I hope to play with the band again in the future honestly.

I'm picking this song though (since I already shared Ace Of Spades a while ago and that's the song we covered) since the singer for the band we opened for and his girlfriend are dressing up a Sid and Nancy for their halloween show.  Made me think of these guys (obviously I suppose) and I realized I have hardly shared any of the music from the biggest 1 album band to exist (total speculation on my part).  So yeah, here it is, haha

Gucci Mane - I Got The Bag

Artists: Gucci Mane feat. Migos
Song: I Got The Bag
Album: Mr. Davis (2017)
Genre: Rap, Hip Hop
Language: Strong

So I just love taking any moment I can to promote my own stuff, so here's a plug at my podcast!

The entire episode (the best one we've done yet actually), my friend Jackson talked about how he had just rewatched Austin Powers.  I've never seen it, but I'm generally familiar with the idea of it.  Anyway, he just kept slipping into The Voice and saying baby.  At the end of the episode he started trying to sing this song's hook, but in the Austin Powers voice.  It was hella amusing, I might try and get it put together honestly, a crappy recut of sorts.

The song is really good as well, I'm starting to become a bigger fan of Migos, and I feel like all of Gucci's new projects are pure gold.

Hatebreed - I Will Be Heard

Band: Hatebreed
Song: I Will Be Heard
Album: Perseverance (2002)
Genre: Hardcore

I've mentioned this before, but I've really developed an appreciation for Hatebreed.  They're not too bad, and they give me that good morning kick in the pants that I sometimes need, ya know?  Hatebreed is just good at giving me that kick, and they're not as hateful as you might think.  At least, if you assume they're a nazi band they aren't hateful in that way.  They may not be super positive, but they aren't racist, so that's good yo.

Woods Of Ypres - Wet Leather

Band: Woods Of Ypres
Song: We Leather
Album: Woods 4: The Green Album
Genre: Doom Metal

I had these guys pop up while I was shuffling the main blog playlist the other night, and I just can't get past how much I love them.  Like, dude, they're so freaking good.  The harsh depression message in a lot of their songs is neat, because I really get what they're trying to say.  Like, a lot of people talk about depression, but I feel like it usually comes across as complaining and just emo.  The lyrical imagery these guys use just clicks with me, especially with their song Suicide Cargoload, which I feel I reference in every post about them.
