Panic! At The Disco - [F*ck A] Silver Lining [New Release]

Band: Panic! At The Disco
Song: [F*ck A] Silver Lining
Album: Pray For The Wicked (2018)
Genre: Alternative Rock
Language: Strong

I was gonna cover this album as a full review, but since I had a poor reception to the Impending Doom review (and the content of it was lacking on my end too) I figured I'd hold off for a while.  I just don't have a load of time right now, that's the excuse I'm gonna go with at least, haha

I'm a decent fan of the album though.  It's not *amazing*, but it's not bad at all.  I'm sure a couple re-listens will change my mind on that though, considering I didn't fully appreciate Death Of A Bachelor for a few months even.

As it stands right now though, this is hands down my favorite track on the album.  It's energy is fun, and it couples well with the general thought of don't settle for the silver lining to a bad situation, just make all the situations good.  At least that's what I get from it, ya know?

It's good, it's high energy, and it's a fantastic start to the album.

Panic! At The Disco - Hallelujah

Band:  Panic! At The Disco
Song:  Hallelujah
Album:  Death Of A Bachelor (2016)
Genre:  Alternative

Y'all know what today is, right?  Freaking 3 YEARS I've been doing this now!

A lot has changed too, like, I switched post formatting a lot.  Used to just have a YouTube link and a band with a lot of info on whoever they were.  Then I switched to include a picture.  That was only for like, special weeks though, like the Week Of Evil I run in October.  I'm also realizing that I started on the 17th, not the 18th.  So that's embarrassing.  Thought it was the 18th for ages now, haha

After a while (meaning late last year) I decided to institute what you see today, but not quite as in depth.  It was kinda ugly though, and at the time all my videos exceeded the limit of the blog writing space.  I can't get a picture of that since I already updated all my borders to fix it, but you'll just have to trust me there.

As you can see, the old method was not only kinda ghetto, but the images were too small.  I also lose images right and left since I take them from google, and if I don't pick somebody like a magazine or Wiki it tends to disappear on me.

I suppose I don't have a lot of room to complain on that front though, since I'm not exactly buying the images to use.  Shh, don't tell anybody.

But hey, here I am still, posting new music every freaking day with only 2 repeats to date.  Once cause I was unoriginal, and the other cause I was requested to.

Hey hey though, I've had a blast over the last 3, and I hope any of you who've either just picked up or have been following from the beginning think the same.

Panic! At The Disco - The Ballad Of Mona Lisa

Band:  Panic! At The Disco
Genre:  Alternative Rock

One of my favorite songs I didn't mean to listen to.  I was just shuffling all of Panic!'s music on day and this happened to come on.  It's possibly one of my favorites now honestly.

But hey hey, it's New Year's Eve!  Hype for a new year, eh?  Hopefully less people will die next year than have this year.  My goodness, all the famous people that have died this year.  It's ridiculous, too many people that I liked a lot died this year.

On the plus side I learned that Kimbo Slice existed.  I always thought that was a nickname we made up at work for one of the managers, Jim.  We called him Jimbo Slice for the longest time and I honestly thought it was something that we all came up with.

Panic! At The Disco - Miss Jackson

Band:  Panic! At The Disco feat. LOLO
Genre:  Alternative Rock
Language:  Some

Hey hey, happy election day!  Vote vote vote and all that cause it's it's an American right and all that.

As per my personal policy in life, this blog takes no political stance in the same way I take no public stance.  You wanna know what I believe?  Catch me in person, cause there's no way I'm having that conversation over text when I can be misinterpreted.

Cool.

Song though!  I rather enjoy most all of Panic!'s songs at this point, and as I listen I'm finding more and more songs that the group wrote that I didn't know before.  This one was a big one actually cause I don't really know where I heard it before, I just know I have.  I have a heck of a time trying to remember to look songs up too, Never been good at that either.  I actually started a spreadsheet of songs to look up and songs to post.  That's me, hella organized about important to me but unimportant to other people things.

Title Track Tuesday: Panic! At The Disco - Death Of A Bachelor

Band:  Panic! At The Disco (Brendon Urie)
Genre:  Alternative Rock

So apologies about missing the last TTT, I had to go to a funeral downstate and I just banged out a pile of posts to make my life a little easier during that.  Yeah, it sucked.

But hey, back to the fun stuff, music.

Here's gonna be a day that we have a song that does not at all represent the album on one hand, but perfectly shows it off on the other.

On the one hand, there are like, no other songs quite like this on the album, a good and bad thing.  One the other hand, it shows the direction the album is going wonderfully, but that direction is in the service of Brendon Urie.  Again, good and bad.

I dunno, I love how the song is just really good, but I also am not a fan of the fact that it's clearly just BU showing off some of what he can do.

It falls the totally arbitrary TTT qualifications I made up, but it's still a good song.  Choose how you feel about it.

Panic! At The Disco - Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time

Band:  Panic! At The Disco
Genre:  Alternative Rock

I rather enjoy how Brendon Urie sampled from Rock Lobster for the intro, it really lent to the tune.

It's a good tune though, one of my favorites off the new album.  As a really solid album this track managed to stand out by not only using that riff, but also mentioning one of my favorite conversation topics.  Cocaine.

I've got no clue why I talk about Cocaine so much, but I do and it's a problem.

A to Z Challenge: B is for Brendon Urie

Artist:  Brendon Urie
Genre:  Alternative Rock, Pop Rock, Pop Punk

Nobody can argue that Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco is a fantastic musician with a rather impressive vocal range.

The only original member of the group, Brendon has decided to release material basically solo by recording most everything on the album.  He's got some touring musicians but the album itself was written and performed almost exclusively by him, which is, in my opinion, a bit of a weird move.  There was discussion before the album was released as to whether Brendon was going release it as his own solo project or as the 5th Panic! album.  However on the day that the final original member announced he had left the group Mr Urie announced that the album "Death Of A Bachelor" would be the 5th Panic! album.

It's not a bad album and has a lot of good tracks, so if you liked them back in the day but stopped once the 2000s ended it's worth checking out again.  Now please enjoy this rather interesting music video.

Panic! At The Disco - Victorious

Band:  Panic! At The Disco
Genre:  Alternative Rock

My sister reminded me last night that I had this song written on the back of my hand for whatever reason.  I don't remember why I had written this song on my hand because I don't remember where I would have heard the song that I actually would get the name of it either.

I suppose that's not too important, the song is really catchy and stuff and that's what really counts.

Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies

Band:  Panic! At The Disco
Genre:  Alternative Rock
Language:  Some (Chorus)
Themes:  Don't spread gossip?

When I first heard these guys I had bought an iPod from a friend that had a bunch of music on it.  I'm eternally annoyed that I didn't keep all the music, but at the time I also deleted any music that had swearing in it.  That was a long time ago when I was a good kid.

Turns out I heard them ages before with that stupid song "Nine In The Afternoon", but the decided to go in a very different direction after that first album.  Can't say I'm too sad about that, though they still make music that I don't usually listen to just cause it's a little weird.  I don't really know what it is either, it's just not stuff I'm super into.

I like this song a lot though, so listen.
