Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Face Down

Band: Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Song: Face Down
Album: Don't You Fake It (2006)
Genre: Alternative Rock

Fun little nostalgia tune since I forgot my laptop before going to work last night and I'm lowing sleep time writing this now, haha

I never was huge in this scene when it was popular, but I heard it around enough that I really feel strong ties to a certain time in my life when I hear it now.  Kinda cool, eh?

Cake - Short Skirt, Long Jacket

Band: Cake
Song: Short Skirt, Long Jacket
Album: Comfort Eagle (2001)
Genre: Alternative Rock

I fell asleep last night and I wasn't sure what I was going to post, and when I woke up after the best night of sleep I've had in ages I still didn't know.

That's why I figured it'd be a good idea to give you guys some Cake.  Cake isn't bad at all, I'm a fan of the weird sarcastic monotone they have going on.  This video is really funny since it's a bunch of random people reacting to this song, so at least check it out for some solid reactions.

Panic! At The Disco - [F*ck A] Silver Lining [New Release]

Band: Panic! At The Disco
Song: [F*ck A] Silver Lining
Album: Pray For The Wicked (2018)
Genre: Alternative Rock
Language: Strong

I was gonna cover this album as a full review, but since I had a poor reception to the Impending Doom review (and the content of it was lacking on my end too) I figured I'd hold off for a while.  I just don't have a load of time right now, that's the excuse I'm gonna go with at least, haha

I'm a decent fan of the album though.  It's not *amazing*, but it's not bad at all.  I'm sure a couple re-listens will change my mind on that though, considering I didn't fully appreciate Death Of A Bachelor for a few months even.

As it stands right now though, this is hands down my favorite track on the album.  It's energy is fun, and it couples well with the general thought of don't settle for the silver lining to a bad situation, just make all the situations good.  At least that's what I get from it, ya know?

It's good, it's high energy, and it's a fantastic start to the album.

Breaking Benjamin - Dance With The Devil

Band:  Breaking Benjamin
Song:  Dance With The Devil
Album:  Phobia  (2006)
Genre: Alternative Rock

I feel like everybody has that band that they listened to when they thought they were miserable and nobody understood them.  The band that helped them feel edgy and whatever, ya know?  It kinda makes me wonder what it was like before there were bands to make people feel one way or another...  Maybe that's why there were so many more small time gangs back in the day.

Anywho, this is a fun little ditty that just screams edgy, so of course 16 year old me loved it to death.

Three Days Grace - Goin' Down

Band:  Three Days Grace
Song:  Goin' Down
Album:  Life Starts Now (2009)
Genre:  Alternative Rock

I don't know why, but this song always makes me think of the movie Saw.  I heard this album around the same time I first saw Saw, and the weird guitar bit in the beginning kinda sounded like something you'd hear in the credits or something, ya feel?

The song creeped me out for ages because of that actually, I tried to never listen to it at night after work cause it made me uneasy.

Linkin Park - Burn It Down

Band:  Linkin Park
Song:  Burn It Down
Album:  Living Things (2012)
Genre:  Alternative Rock

Firstly, I just heard that Linkin Park plans on continuing, even though Chester is no longer with them.  I'm kinda excited about that, just to see what they end up coming up with.  The last album was really powerful, I think it'll be really hard for them to put something out that even competes with that.

Secondly, I used to hate this song.  It was so overplayed that I just couldn't stand it.  Listening to it now though, especially in the context of the rest of the album, it's really fantastic.  It's a musical take that nobody else really has picked up on in the mainstream scene that I'm familiar with, and kinda worth exploring.  Electronic stuff in Rock is a really cool thing that's not usually done well, but this album knocks it out.

Seether - Let You Down

Band:  Seether
Song:  Let You Down
Album:  Poison The Parish (2017)
Genre:  Alternative Rock

The big surprise I got this year so far is that Seether released an album, and it's actually fantastic.

Shoutout to my man Jesse Short for turning me on to this.  I was totally willing to ignore the fact that Seether existed past that one album wit songs I know, but he told me the new one was bomb and managed to convince me to give it a listen.

Turns out he wasn't wrong at all and Seether came back from being generally meh with a 3 year break to rocking in with this fantastic album.  I really do recommend anybody who hasn't listened to it and enjoyed Seether back in the day to give it a listen, it'll probably make you happy.

Spiderbait - Black Betty

Band:  Spiderbait
Song:  Black Betty (cover)
Album:  Tonight Alright (2004)
Genre:  Alternative Rock

So hey, I'm heading to New York City on Tuesday.  It's gonna be a good time.

I'm going for a school thing, so there'll be a lot of hair stuff involved, and I'm for sure gonna end up buying something to help my future school endeavors while I'm there.  But mostly I'm saying this to let you know I'm writing the posts for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday tomorrow, so they're gonna probably be a little more low effort than what I'd usually try to provide.  Not like, trash quality, but not amazing either.

So yeah, Spiderbait.  They covered this Ram Jam song and, in my opinion, made it much more listenable.  The original wasn't bad, I just didn't like it.  I love the distorted effect the singer has on his voice here, it's really kinda nifty if you ask me.

KONGOS - Come With Me Now

Band:  KONGOS
Song:  Come With Me Now
Album:  Lunatic (2014)
Genre:  Alternative Rock

One thing I can always count of KONGOS for is a straight dope music video.

I honestly had thought that I posted this one 2 or so years ago, but as I found when I posted Take It From Me a while ago, I was mistaken.

Please enjoy this song, I think it's one that most everybody can enjoy, yeah?

Tokio Hotel - Scream

Band:  Tokio Hotel
Song:  Scream
Album:  Scream (2007)
Genre:  Alternative Rock

So I really had assumed these guys were gonna be weirder than they turned out being.  My brother found this band when he was in this kick of listening to weird music just for the sake of it being weird, and I kinda made judgement based on that, ya know?

Turns out they're, as far as I can tell, just a nifty little Alt Rock deal from Germany.  Worth giving a listen at least, ya know?

Kings Of Leon - Family Tree

Band:  Kings of Leon
Song:  Family Tree
Album:  Mechanical Bull (2013)
Genre:  Alternative Rock

At school we had some music playing, and since the system wasn't connecting to the teacher's computer properly we got to listen to Ganon's college station.  We heard a Foo Fighters song I didn't hate, some Cage The Elephant, and other such Alt Rock acts.

This song stuck out to me though and I rather dig it.
