Panic! At The Disco - Hallelujah

Band:  Panic! At The Disco
Song:  Hallelujah
Album:  Death Of A Bachelor (2016)
Genre:  Alternative

Y'all know what today is, right?  Freaking 3 YEARS I've been doing this now!

A lot has changed too, like, I switched post formatting a lot.  Used to just have a YouTube link and a band with a lot of info on whoever they were.  Then I switched to include a picture.  That was only for like, special weeks though, like the Week Of Evil I run in October.  I'm also realizing that I started on the 17th, not the 18th.  So that's embarrassing.  Thought it was the 18th for ages now, haha

After a while (meaning late last year) I decided to institute what you see today, but not quite as in depth.  It was kinda ugly though, and at the time all my videos exceeded the limit of the blog writing space.  I can't get a picture of that since I already updated all my borders to fix it, but you'll just have to trust me there.

As you can see, the old method was not only kinda ghetto, but the images were too small.  I also lose images right and left since I take them from google, and if I don't pick somebody like a magazine or Wiki it tends to disappear on me.

I suppose I don't have a lot of room to complain on that front though, since I'm not exactly buying the images to use.  Shh, don't tell anybody.

But hey, here I am still, posting new music every freaking day with only 2 repeats to date.  Once cause I was unoriginal, and the other cause I was requested to.

Hey hey though, I've had a blast over the last 3, and I hope any of you who've either just picked up or have been following from the beginning think the same.

Stone Sour - Bother

Band:  Stone Sour
Genre:  Metal, Alternative
Language:  Some

This is a rather depressing song honestly.  I never really remember how much of a downer it is until I listen to it, but it's really really good.

I know a lot of people say this, but old Stone Sour like this is so much better than the new stuff.  They recently put out a cover album that was mostly disappointing to be totally honest.  The songs they chose to cover were only ok, and the guitar work on some of them is just sad.  They never should have kicked out Jim Root.

This is a good one from the first album though, so it's safe.  It's not their usual sound, much more chill.  Really feels kinda like an Alice In Chains song.

Gorillaz - El Manana

Band:  Gorillaz
Genre:  Alternative

So full honesty here, I've never really listened to these guys too much.  Or this guy, I can't remember how many people are actually in this group, but I kinda feel like it's only one guy come to think of it.

Buy anyway, I was listening to this album on shuffle and this rather melancholy song came on right about the time I was really feeling pretty blah.  As somebody who is a little stuck in a rut that's a kinda common feeling though, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

I'm a little bummed that I'm late on the whole Gorillaz train, but I hear there's a new album in the works rather soon, so we'll see how that turns out.

Cage The Elephant - Ain't No Rest For The Wicked

Band:  Cage The Elephant
Genre:  Alternative

I didn't get home till 10:30 last night, so I didn't get to write the post I had planned for.  I will post it tomorrow though, so no fears.

Unfortunately I had to do the half-assed post thing I've been doing recently, which really annoys me.  I hate cutting corners like this, but I'm so tired I can barely walk straight.

Tomorrow.  I promise.

Alice In Chains - Them Bones

Band:  Alice In Chains
Genre:  Alternative, Hard Rock

I'm really tired, so I'm gonna go with one of my favorite songs as a backup.  It's a really good song from a really good band that you should appreciate, right?

I apologize for what some of the post this week are gonna be like, I'm dead tired and have very little free time.  Tomorrow (aka today) I'll have something more like an hour or more of free time, so I'll have a better post prepped for you all.

I'll also explain why I'm stupid tired and busy.

Also this is post 444.

Nickelback - Someday

Band:  Nickelback
Genre:  Alternative, Rock

Ok, fine.  Nickelback and ICP are two of my guilty pleasure bands.

When picking Rocktober songs though I decided to pick what would be playing on my local rock station that would be called Rocktober hits.  Mostly Classic Rock, but also a lot of stuff like this.  Basically anything that is basic Rock.

I like this song a lot though, and I hope you do too.

Breaking Benjamin - Had Enough

Band:  Breaking Benjamin
Genre:  Alternative Rock
Themes:  Greed is bad

Over the course of adding a picture to each of these I've found out what bands actually look like.  It's been really weird actually, cause there's a good number of these guys who I've never actually seen before.  I say this cause these guys are one of those bands.

On a side note, these guys are part of a 5 band group that all sound like each other.  Nickelback, Seether, Theory of a Deadman, Three Days Grace, and Breaking Benjamin all sound just a little bit like each other.  It can be annoying if you're trying to figure out a song you hear on the radio.  There's some things to pick out though, like the thing that BB's singer does from time to time, or that Nickelback sound.  Still, it can be hard.

Ludo - Love Me Dead

Band - Ludo
Genre - Alternative Rock

So while yesterdays post was vague cause I was too lazy/tired to write a good one this is like that cause I just don't know anything about the group.  I was driving the other day in my brother's car which has a dead cd player.  It's "hella old" to quote him, so we just had the radio playing.  We're listening to a bunch or older rock songs that are generally making him miserable so we decided to change the station.  Flipped over to Ganon's station and had this song pop up.  We had no clue what it was though, just that we enjoyed it.

Moral of the story:  Jeff's car has a tendency to play music he really doesn't care for except for this song.

Three Days Grace - Riot

Band:  Three Days Grace
Genre:  Alternative Rock
Language:  Once, Strong

Everybody loves Three Days Grace, they're like, THE radio band.  I dare you to find a rock station that doesn't play at least one of their songs a day.  Come on.  do it.

Still though, it's not bad music.  This is honestly just the first track that comes to mind for me, they have other stuff that isn't as heavy as this if it's not quite your cup of tea.  Think Nickelback with more popularity.

Ben Folds - Rockin' The Suburbs

Artist:  Ben Folds
Genre:  Rock, Alternative
Language:  Strong (mostly censored cause Vevo)

You know what, let's get some more not just me music in here.

A friend of mine has his description on Twitter as "Male | Middle Class | White" and I had no clue what it meant.  When I asked him he told me that it was a song reference and that I should check it out.  Turns out I kinds knew the song from the end of the movie "Over The Hedge", but I'd actually never listened to it fully before.

It'w a good song, it's really catchy, and you'll probably like it.

Disturbed - Devour

Band:  Disturbed
Genre:  Alternative Metal

I used to own this album like, 6 years ago but I sold it when I needed some spare cash.  Funny thing, I sold it to buy a different Disturbed album thinking "Well I still have it ripped on the computer."

This is all well and good, up until the computer crashed on me and I lost all of my music.  Not cool.

I bought it again on Thursday though and I really had forgotten how good an album it is, it's full of terrific songs and brought back a lot of fun memories.  This song is a lot better than I remember it being though, so please enjoy it.

FYI, disturbed is a metal band with no screaming really, just singing.  They also swear a lot if that's an issue, but this song is clean.

Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies

Band:  Panic! At The Disco
Genre:  Alternative Rock
Language:  Some (Chorus)
Themes:  Don't spread gossip?

When I first heard these guys I had bought an iPod from a friend that had a bunch of music on it.  I'm eternally annoyed that I didn't keep all the music, but at the time I also deleted any music that had swearing in it.  That was a long time ago when I was a good kid.

Turns out I heard them ages before with that stupid song "Nine In The Afternoon", but the decided to go in a very different direction after that first album.  Can't say I'm too sad about that, though they still make music that I don't usually listen to just cause it's a little weird.  I don't really know what it is either, it's just not stuff I'm super into.

I like this song a lot though, so listen.

Theory Of A Deadman - Lowlife

I know today I would usually be doing a blog type thing with the "Let's Talk" tag, but to be honest nothing much has changed recently.  I'll save it for a different day so don't worry, you'll still get a look at whatever I'm doing.

Band:  Theory Of A Deadman
Genre:  Alternative Rock
Language:  Strong
Themes:  Proud to be trailer trash

I first heard these guys on the radio, but going through my little 90s 2000s kick here reminded me of their existence.  They're a pretty good band considering I placed them in the mental folder of "bands that sound like Nickleback".  I don't know whether that will affect your opinion about them, but I have a very on/off relationship with them.

Please look at this picture of the singer though, tell my that's not some of the most fantastic hair for a band of this style to have.

Smash Mouth - Walkin' On The Sun

Band:  Smash Mouth
Genre:  Alternative Rock, Surf Rock

Oh look, more 90s!

I really like this song a lot actually, it's on of maybe 3 Smash Mouth songs I knew before actually halfway looking into them.  I'm sure you've heard it before, it's catchy, talks about not delaying and acting instead, and how if you don't do these things you may as well combust on the surface of the sun.  Good times.

Finger Eleven - Paralyzer

Band:  Finger Eleven
Genre:  Alternative Rock

So as a fair warning to you all the other day at work a friend of mine was playing Smash Mouth's Pandora station.  I don't want to say that this is a bad thing, but you're gonna be flooded with 90s and 2000s rock for about a week now, starting yesterday.  Congrats, you get to listen with me while I get nostalgic for an era I don't remember cause I didn't even start listening to music till like, 2007.

You know how much that sucks?  I could have had a much longer time listening to music that I just missed out on.

Ah well, enjoy the music you've probably heard too many times on the radio,

Bowling For Soup - High School Never Ends

Band:  Bowling For Soup
Genre:  Pop Punk, Alternative Rock
Language:  Some, Mild

The first time I heard about these guys my uncle was playing a song of theirs talking about how he'd been at warped tour.  "I was walking down the main area looking at the different stages and I saw one with a 400 lb guitarist.  I knew I had to check those guys out." is what he said if my memory is accurate.  Turns out that they're fantastic.

You probably know them for the song 1985 cause that's the one that gets the most radio time if memory serves.

U2 - New Year's Day

Band:  U2
Genre:  Alternative, Rock

I'm really hoping you all know who U2 is.  They're the band that added their album to your iTunes without you knowing it?  Well Apple did that, but whatever.

U2 has been around for ever now, and they have a sound that really can't be mistaken for anybody else.  Something that I think is really cool actually is that the sound they had back in the 80s still sounds relevant.  It almost could have been released in the last couple years and it wouldn't sound too out of place.

This song popped into my head the other day, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I remembered I did.

Wall Of Voodoo - Mexican Radio

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you might have heard this song before.  It's a really catchy song that talks about how back in the day guitars would occasionally pick up Mexican radio stations if they were playing in the Texas area.  It's a really cool song with a bit of off timing stuff going on that is just generally enjoyable.  If you've never heard it be sure to check it out.  There's no reason at all that you shouldn't hear it at least once in your life.

I'm beginning to think I need some sort of early warning system for people to know whether they need headphones or whatever when they listen to this stuff.  Maybe a language warning?  Lemme know what you think, cause I'd hate to think I'm blindsiding some of you who are unfamiliar with some of the stuff I post.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California

Any time I hear the song Californication I think it's gonna launch into this song.  Every single time.

This is a really good song though, which should be obvious since it's one of their most recognized songs.  Hey, what can I say, I like their hits.

So the bassist for Red Hot Chili Peppers is named Flea, and he is amazing to watch.  Seriously, check out a live video or a music video, you'll see what I mean.  Look at this man, he clearly has nothing left to lose now that his tooth is missing.  He also has fantastically colored hair.

Or ya know, maybe he does have more to lose...  Of course I'm talking about the loss of blue hair, ya know.  Not the loss of clothes.

Also, #PoorBlogFormating

Other than that, I don't have too much to say, ya know?  They put out some really catchy music that is popular for a reason.  If you've never heard their stuff I strongly advise you give them a listen, it's well worth the 3 minutes to hear what they do.

I used to own their album Californication, and some songs off of the others, but I don't know what happened to that.

Cake - The Distance

Well as an update on last night.

I made sliced onions and mushrooms cooked in red wine.  Then I put it on rice.

It looked like crap and tasted so freaking good it's not even funny.

On a side note, here's today's song.  It's a rather catchy piece with a really fun bass line that I keep meaning to learn.  I like it a lot though, and I figured you'd all enjoy the break from all things Rap and Metal we've had recently.

How's the break working for you all by the way?  I've been trying to venture out to some of the other music areas that I don't listen to as often so you can get a better mix from a single source.
