I feel it would be inappropriate for me to not highlight one of the YouTubers I've been following recently, RoomieOfficial (or just Roomie).

The dude is an amazing multi instrumentalist, and one of the best singers I've ever had the fortune to listen to.  His range is pretty intense, and he also has an amusing sense of humor to keep up with it.  I dunno, the dude seems to be a pretty good package deal.

Also the fact that he interacts with my two favorite music YouTubers Rob and Andrew really helps.  The guys colab regularly and have a lot of solid musical info for me to learn about.

Rob Scallon - Gas Mask Catalogue

Well if it isn't the internet's favorite guitarist, Rob Scallon.

Rob has been making music for the last 10 years on YouTube, but most people only became aware of him in the last 3 or 4 because of his banjo covers of popular Metal bands.

I feel like his originals don't really get the respect that they deserve though, so whenever I post him I really try to include them as much as possible.

Let's talk about his 9 string guitar real quick.  It's basically a one of a kind prototype that he received due to his partnership with Schecter, a popular guitar brand for Metal musicians.  The big thing that he does with the guitar is he doesn't abuse the lowest string.  It's such a hugely different range between the lowest and the highest strings that if you're doing what Rob does here with playing across the whole thing it turns a little muddy.  All in all it's a really solid song to listen to though, so have fun listening to it and supporting an independent artist.

Emma Blackery - Sucks To Be You

I know I said I wasn't going to do any YouTube music for a little while, but here's some legitimately good stuff.

Emma Blackery is a British YouTuber that I discovered a while ago when my brother showed me this video.  I was immensely amused by this and have been a devoted fan for the last 3 ish years.

A little while ago she started putting some acoustic songs out.  I didn't care for them excessively because I'm not really into that style of music, but this newer stuff is pretty dope.

It's got a bit of a Paramor-type vibe that really sounds like it fell out of the early 2000s, so even though it's new if you were into that era of Rock then this might even feel a little nostalgic for ya.

Rhett & Link - What Women Want

This'll be the last YouTube post I'll make for a little bit.  There's so many different YT Musicians I could post that I'm gonna save for later, but I feel like this kinda has run it's course for now.

Rhett & Link are kinda like the "granddaddies of the internet".  They've started a lot of jokes and they've had 10 years so far to basically place themselves in the position of the gate keepers of YouTube.  They've done a freaking huge pile of things over the years from crappy local commercials, music videos, sketches, a daily show, and many many more.  Suffice it to say that they are well established in the YouTube community and probably one of the biggest names I've trotted out so far.

They don't do too many songs like this anymore but they have always put out really quality material and I can really respect that.  It's basically always good and that's hard to come by.

This is a really fun song that I'm sure nobody could object too, and it features the rather talented Chester See.  Not a huge fan personally, but he's got some really solid material as well.

MysteryGuitarMan - Extreme Video Puzzle

So I feel like it doesn't quite add up using this dude on a music blog since he's more of a video editor, but I will always and forever associate him with YouTube music so here he is.

He's got a lot of really freaking cool videos that involve music though, but it's all stop motion stuff and he does it well.  I dunno, you'll have to check it out for yourself to get a good idea.

I can't very well mention Mashups without bringing in my favorite mashup artist out there, Isosine.

I'm 100% convinced that everything this artist touches turns to gold, and none of the songs he's released have made me think otherwise yet.  I love his songs that go in a comedy angle like this one I'm posting, and then there's his ones that are just really solid pieces like this one.

Unfortunately he's really hard to find now since people keep throwing copyright stuff at him.  He lost his Soundcloud because of it actually, which really sucks since he was one of my favorite guys to follow.  His YouTube is really inactive now because of that too, but if you look at his main website that I listed above you can enjoy the songs he's made since his YouTube departure.  His Bandcamp has access to most of his songs as well, so that's good, right?

Darude Astley - Sandroll

I mean really though, the most common thing on the YouTube music scene are crappy mashups.  There's so many people that upload their music to YouTube since it has a few less restrictions than Soundcloud does.

Every now and then though the internet combines two of it's biggest jokes in a way that works.  This is one of the examples of a legitimately good combination of stuff.  You've got the Rickroll from 4Chan, you've got Sandstorm and it's overused to death as a musical background thing, and it all rolls together nicely.  Ha.  Roll.

Well anyway you'll probably like this, it's rather good.

You know though, speaking of RWJ yesterday I remembered he had a bit of a musical side project as well.  I mean to be fair his wasn't as big a deal as most of the other YT musicians I'm gonna try to get into YFM was still an interesting group.  Ray has this really freaking immature crap sense of humor that fluctuates with the trends of the internet and as such looking back on a lot of his stuff I can't believe I liked it.  Hey, I can at least say at some point in my life I was hip to pop culture enough to try and emulate these dudes.  It also probably helped that I was 17 or 18 at the time and less mature than I am now.

This is actually a decent song though compared to his usual string of jokes.  The music portion of this group isn't bad at all, it's just a little immature sometimes.

Rob Scallon - Theater Girl

I've got no clue what to classify Rob s honestly.  Unless I have vocals I honestly really have a hard time guessing by myself.  Usually I'll go to Wiki for more difficult bands but since Rob is a YouTube musician he seems not to have an entry.

Here's Rob though, the obnoxiously good guitarist.

One of the things that Rob does is take instruments like the 8 stringed guitar and use them for their non intended purposes.  Let's be real here, the only reason people would buy an 8 stringed guitar up till recently is because it's pretty much just for Metal music.

Well Rob has managed to get whatever this classifies as and Funk stuff going down with an 8 string, slightly changing the stereotype of what 8 strings can be used for.

This is a really cool chill song, so feel free to check it out, yeah?

Remco Hendrix - Funk Bass Thumb & Fingerstyle Grooves

I will admit that I've never heard this dude's music until Sunday afternoon, but once I had I knew I had to share it with you.

A week or so ago a friend of mine tried to tell me that you couldn't have music that was built around just the bass or drums because they were filler instruments.  Obviously I knew this was wrong but I wasn't sure how to show I was right either till I found this guy.

It's some really good music that you can't possibly have an objection too, so go ahead and give it a listen.

Karmin - No Flex Zone

Watsky is somebody I got introduced to a while ago by a friend of mine, but I never really listened to him.  He's a really good rapper, I just never got around to looking into his stuff.

Karmin on the other hand, is another person I haven't listened to before.  Honestly, the only reason I didn't listen to them is because they're a YouTube cover artist.  I try to avoid them in general because I had a friend fangirl about one of them a while ago and, no matter how good they are, I just can't get into them now.

I might have to make an exception here though, cause this is a good remix of the original song.

Late edit by like 7 days, but that line "Coming out late like Dre with Detox"?  That's good.

Jared Dines - But Does It Djent?

Jared Dines is a guy from YouTube who sometimes makes Deathcore and Djent songs, but mostly just makes videos about the different types of musicians.  This guy is really talented, he can play drums, bass, guitar, and can scream.  I'd advise checking out his channel, just cause it's pretty funny.

This song is about people putting too much store in whether a guitar can "djent" or not.  It's a joke you're more likely to get if that's the kind of music you're into, but it's still amusing.  Read the lyrics as they pop up, it might help?

"play nothing but Os" refers to playing the lowest 2 or 3 strings in a tuning that makes them a chord.  There are bands that play entire songs that are made of one chord played in various beats.

Jim Bianco - That's What She Said

So I know I'm putting this out a little late, but I forgot to write a post yesterday afternoon before I took a nap.  You see, I work at 6am today, but I was told that there was no way I was getting out of seeing Jurassic World's midnight showing.  Sorry for the fact that this is late, but I don't even care cause that movie was fan-freaking-tastic.  I feel like it stayed true enough to the original series and, despite a slightly cheesy ending, was very well done.

Just cause this is the only inspiration my sleep deprived self has, here's a video I found ages ago when a friend and I just searched "That's What She Said Song".
