I found out about PAIN when I first heard Lindemann. I decided to listen to the dude's other band Hypocrisy first though. Not too great in my general line of music, but not bad either.
I finally listened to PAIN after seeing an interview where Peter Tägtgren mentioned that Lindemann was basically the same thing as PAIN but with Till singing instead of himself. As a fan of Lindemann I was rather happy to find I could get more music of the same style.
PAIN is actually straight fantastic. The whole Industrial theme is a style of music that I don't have as much knowledge of as I'd like to. It's a cool blend of Metal music with electronic stuff that is also rather different than Nu-Metal, though still similar. Do enjoy this song though, and happy mothers day as well I suppose, haha.

I was asked by a friends to join a band recently. This is cool, but what he wanted me to do is play bass, and I'm not too fast at that. He was forming a punk band and I'm more of a chill bassist.
I decided to practice up by playing Rage basslines. They were simple enough for me to pick up quickly but fast-ish enough to pretend I was learning something.
I didn't learn this song so I'm not sure why I led in with that story, but hey, whatevs, right?
This is probably one of my favorite RAtM songs, so I hope ya dig it.
Well firstly I can't find any lyrics for this song, but I know for a fact there's screaming in there. Maybe it's just noise and there's no words, so...
Anyway, welcome to the second band to be featured during May-Grudergrind.
Agoraphobic Nosebleed is a Drum Machine band. There's a lot of bands in the genre that use a drum machine over a drummer to simply make sure it can keep up. The most impressive part of it is that they've been in existence since '94 though. Bands like this don't usually live too long because of how abrasive the music is. It's like how there's not too many punk bands that go on long too. Ya grow out of it and whatnot.
That's what I believe the advantage of the drum machine is though. Don't need as big a band so you can focus on the fun easy bits like having 3 vocalists and throwing out a mountain of sound.
Fun band though, and Kat Katz is one of my favorite female vocalists in Metal right now.

Firstly, shout out to Pittsburgh bands for being really solid. I've heard a couple of bands that were a little smaller from there and they've all been really solid so far. There was this Death Metal band called Post Mortal Possession last week and yo, they were tight. Professional as all crap and entertaining.
The one I saw a little while ago was Arcane Haven though. These guys were part of the first show I saw at the new Basement Transmissions location. They used to have a tiny garbage building, but now it's actually a larger hall more suited for larger events.
I don't remember who they were opening for at the time, but I remember being pleasantly surprised by how good the were compared to everybody else that night.
It doesn't seem like they've put out any new music recently, but what they have out is still fun. Here's their most recent single, hope ya like.

Oh Kanye, my dude. I love how sad you are sometimes. I mean, I don't want him to be sad, but his sad albums are always my favorites.
My favorite part about this one is that it's not even super sad right off the bat. The album starts out strong, but as things go one througout the rest of it you get this really strong feeling of just beign a little low.
By the time we reach Hell Of A Life we've gone through a couple mood swings that bring us to this plod of a song. Not like, plod in a bad way, but in the way that gives you the feeling of "this is happening and that's all you get." You know that feeling when you're in a bit of a dark place and when things happen it's just like Yep, this is a thing."? That's this song.
The song starts with what sounds like Kanye just being all "I'm gonna marry a porn star" and playing out why he'd have a great time with it. As the song goes on however it shows the same feeling as most of the others. He goes through his whole fantasy of what would happen, but then when it came down to the end it crashes back down toward reality.
All the songs manage to follow a great flow of introducing an idea, taking away, then crashing back to earth. Take a listen, it's a really good album.
Band: Sixx A.M.

"I was addicted to heroin so feel bad for me but don't tell me how to live my life." That's basically Nikki Sixx, and that's why I hate him a lot. He's a little too preachy for a guy that also talks about all his mistakes.
I've also found I'm not a huge fan of his music as a general rule. I find his music to also be too preachy without any meat to the song to make it stand by itself.
But every now and then I suppose he releases a song that is pretty good.
Actually a lot of his music past the first 2 albums has been not terrible. I still don't care for it nearly as much as some other bands that I feel are better, but it's not as bad as most of The Heroin Diaries stuff.
Band: My Chemical Romance (MCR)

I was watching Watchmen with my brother and his girlfriend the other day and I realized a couple things.
The movie is basically the good version of Suicide Squad.
It's "heros" that are generally really dark people vs Suicide Squad just employing villians.
The soundtrack in both movies is a little strong. Both of them have a mountain of really solid songs, but Watchmen managed to keep it to a theme that matched the era they were after rather than the mess that was the Suicide Squade soundtrack.
Theres the "reluctant hero" person. Nite Owl in Watchmen (cause he retired), and Deadshot in Suicide Squad (cause it was Will Smith).
There's another point as well, but since it's a spoiler I don't want to mention it. Ask me in the comments if you want to know.
I dunno, maybe there's not as strong a connection as I saw, but I feel like you can realistically draw enough lines between the two to complain about them. Also Rorschach is the best character. Hands down he's one of my favorite people to read cause he's just so wonderfully dark and troubled. Entirely based on him I decided to actually buy the Watchmen book.
At the end there was song in the credits though. Since the movie is set in the mid 80s I had assumed that the song was a Sex Pistols song cause, well, it sounded like them. But good. Don't get me wrong, I do love Sex Pistols, but realistically they aren't a "good" band. Musically they are a mess.
When I looked for it I saw that it was MCR. Obviously a little pumped by that info, I decided to post it for ya. When looking it up I realized that it was a cover of a Bob Dylan song. It really cements to me that Bob Dylan can't perform a song to save his life, but he can write a good one.
Look at Jimi Hendrix's cover of All Along The Watchtower, it's so much better that Dylan's version. So is this. I mean really, the original was like, 10 minutes long. Not cool Dylan, ain't nobody got time for that.
Catchy song though, good Punk Rock vib and a video that fits the general theme of both the movie and song to a point.
