I was watching Watchmen with my brother and his girlfriend the other day and I realized a couple things.

The movie is basically the good version of Suicide Squad.

• It's "heros" that are generally really dark people vs Suicide Squad just employing villians.
• The soundtrack in both movies is a little strong.  Both of them have a mountain of really solid songs, but Watchmen managed to keep it to a theme that matched the era they were after rather than the mess that was the Suicide Squade soundtrack.
• Theres the "reluctant hero" person.  Nite Owl in Watchmen (cause he retired), and Deadshot in Suicide Squad (cause it was Will Smith).
• There's another point as well, but since it's a spoiler I don't want to mention it.  Ask me in the comments if you want to know.

I dunno, maybe there's not as strong a connection as I saw, but I feel like you can realistically draw enough lines between the two to complain about them.  Also Rorschach is the best character.  Hands down he's one of my favorite people to read cause he's just so wonderfully dark and troubled.  Entirely based on him I decided to actually buy the Watchmen book.

At the end there was song in the credits though.  Since the movie is set in the mid 80s I had assumed that the song was a Sex Pistols song cause, well, it sounded like them.  But good.  Don't get me wrong, I do love Sex Pistols, but realistically they aren't a "good" band.  Musically they are a mess.

When I looked for it I saw that it was MCR.  Obviously a little pumped by that info, I decided to post it for ya.  When looking it up I realized that it was a cover of a Bob Dylan song.  It really cements to me that Bob Dylan can't perform a song to save his life, but he can write a good one.

Look at Jimi Hendrix's cover of All Along The Watchtower, it's so much better that Dylan's version.  So is this.  I mean really, the original was like, 10 minutes long.  Not cool Dylan, ain't nobody got time for that.

Catchy song though, good Punk Rock vib and a video that fits the general theme of both the movie and song to a point.

So long and goodnight.  That's the last line of this song.

This was also the last song that MCR ever played live, so it was also the last line they ever sang.  This is one of many things that twisted the band's fans in knots forever and ever.  Because the community was incredibly emotional, get it?

But seriously, I can't hate on these guys even if (like many bands) they have a weird fan bass.  The music they created managed to hit a chord with a lot of people that not too many people replicate quite the same.

Heck, look at the fanbase reaction to the whole MCRX thing.  With 11 rough cuts and live mixes of songs they managed to make hundreds of thousands of people freak out.  Granted that's cause most people thought it was going to be a reunion, but that's not important.

Also Gerard Way fit the look much better when he had black hair, I'm not as huge a fan of the white hair being short and the red hair was just kinda scary.

My Chemical Romance - Dead!

I love this song.  Straight up love it.

I don't connect to the lyrics, and I'm not even fully sure what the song is about.  Honestly, I just love how the whole thing sounds.  The whole album had some really killer songs on it, but this ones stands out to me cause I actually took the time to listen to it more I suppose.

The whole thing from the mildly crazy sounding intro to the stupid "Na Na"s at the end just are really enjoyable.

Let's Talk 10-14-15

You know what, a lot has happened in the time since we last had a chat post.  I've mentioned a couple things here and there, but we're gonna act like I've said nothing and have all the updates in this post.

So I've been running sound at a young adults group called EYA.  Facebook link if you're interested.  So 3 weeks ago I was running sound for a black gospel band.  This was probably the most involved thing I'd done yet since the house band isn't really that big.
Usually I deal with 2 electric guitars, 1 acoustic, drums, a keyboard, a bass, and 2 singers.  The gospel group on the other hand had 4 singers, 2 keyboards, a bass, drums, and an electric.  The band leader also had some very specific things he wanted me to do with the vocal mixing.

Well it turns out this guy is a kind of big deal in the Cleveland Buffalo Pittsburgh circuit and he was so happy with what I did for him he asked me to travel with them to run sound at all of their shows.  You can't tell me that this isn't cool.  I'm gonna be actually traveling with this guy and helping make their music sound good.

This is a really funny thing to me, because if you follow the music I post here at all you'll know I'm into Metal, some Rap, and basically anything aggressive and/or guitar-y.  In other words, nothing that really screams "Hey, this guy likes Gospel music!"  I'm amused by this, so I figured I'd point it out so you could be amused too.

On that vein, I've also started down the path of being a recording engineer and sound producer.

I'm gonna be interning with one of the guys at EYA who owns a studio and used to work with Raven Sound.  I hear they're a big deal, and I know that this guy is really good at what he does, so I'm really excited about that.

On the production end of things I've taken the role of temporary producer at church while the current one has some time off..  I'm in charge of making sure the entire event sounds good at looks good, which is something I've been interested in for a while now.  I like working at Chick-fil-a and all, but I've been ready to leave it for a while now.  All of these things together are, in my mind, the first steps of many to get out into a "real" job.

You know what else happened?  As you may remember from my post a few days ago, my best friend Matt got married.  Honestly this was an emotionally weird time for me since on one hand, Matt was the happiest I've ever seen him but on the other, this was the last member of my graduating class that wasn't married other than me.  Now disregarding the fact that I only had a graduating class of 5, it makes me feel really far behind everybody I grew up with.  You know what though?  It was a fantastic wedding.  Even though I wasn't able to get through my full speech cause the maid of honor kinda hit all the same points I did.

Yeah, that's pretty much it.  I hope this helps explain why some of my posts have been going up a little late recently, lots of stuff going down.
