This was the first time I'd ever heard Hopsin, and I rather enjoyed it, although the song confused me a bit at first cause it was on the first Tech album I'd ever listened to. When I first heard him on a Five finger Death Punch song I was super interested. He was my first rapper I ever got into and when I finally got one of his albums I didn't really know what to do with it.
This song for example. It's a little weird, the beat is kinda creepy and off, and the 3 rappers take some really weird verses.
Now looking back I have issues taking B.o.B. too seriously since he's spearheading the whole flat earth bs right now, though his work in this song is really solid. He flows well and I just love it.

There's some people that I listen to that from time to time I just stop. Tech N9ne is one of those guys cause, while I love his music, if I'm not in the mood for what he has to offer I generally don't want to listen to any of the dudes on his label either. Nothing against any of them, but all their music sounds like Strange.
But then I come back to them and listen again, That's always a good time.
Stevie Stone is a guy from Strange that I keep leaving on, but I feel like I'm gonna stick around a little more this time around because I found some of his older stuff to dig into.
His new stuff is also great, but I hadn't checked out any of his older stuff till the other day. His first album was straight up fire man, and that's what this song is from.
Well, not his "first" album. He was the rapper on a math album too. Like, multiplication tables. It's lit.
This song is amazing though. Like, yo, it grooves the whole way through with Stevie and Tech rockin' the beat like a... Something that rocks, I dunno.

I was originally going to go with Starship's song "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now", but after much deliberation I realized something. Firstly, I really strongly dislike 80s Pop. Secondly, the song is much more suited for my S post for next year, yeah? But mostly because theme wise, this song kinda fits my blog's feel more, ya dig?
The song has a really bouncy beat to it that really just pulled me in right from the "Y'all can't f*ck with us" line. It set the tone of the song straight out the gate and from there on out it just grooved right through the rest of it. As per usual, Krizz manages to nail his flow as usual. A steady feature in a lot of Tech's songs you pretty much know what you're getting from him.

As I've said for the last couple years, as a daily blog already the A to Z isn't as big an issue for me as it would be for a bi-weekly or monthly blogger. The hardest part of the month continues to be freaking Q and X honestly. The first year I did albums and out of the 6 albums I found that begin with the letter X, 2 of them belong to Mushroomhead. That's straight up ridiculous honestly.
But honestly my favorite part of this is that people actually will visit and comment on my blog. Due to not budgeting my time too well I don't really comment on too many blogs. I said I'd be better last year, but apparently I lied. Maybe next year, right?
This brings me to the List. If you participated the A to Z this year you'll know that the facilitators decided to axe the list from years past since it was really hard to keep up with on their end from a maintenance standpoint. That made a lot of sense to me, and while I was sad I wasn't gonna be able to cash in on those free page views that I was getting before it's not like I can blame anybody but myself on that front.
Dude, some of those guys got way more annoyed than they needed to. It reminded me of people who ask an artist to paint them something. When they get quoted a price and the first thing they shoot back with is "It can't really be that hard, that's ridiculous. Can't you do it for *less* amount?" That's what everybody who was talking about how the list couldn't be that hard to maintain sounded to me. They never had to monitor 1000+ blogs to make sure the ones who weren't active were removed from the list, so they don't get a vote.
Honestly this turned out great. I noticed a lot of comments when I actually was active on other people's blogs, I almost managed to get my name out a little, and some people found me cause I got added to somebody's personal list. That was my favorite part honestly, I managed to get myself added on somebody's watch list. I'm curious to see how long that lasts since I don't exactly post music that is widely loved by the blogging community.
What kind of music do you punks like anyway? I keep hearing that what I post "isn't my scene" or "Just not my cup of tea", but only one person actually posted what they listen to. I love interactions where I get to talk about music, so gimme something to talk about, eh?
Heck, if you stick around as a reader and occasional commenter I'll even post music you'd like on purpose. That's a pretty dope offer, eh?

So every now and then I really overcommit myself, usually around busy times of the year like now. It may not seem like it from the type of music I routinely post but I work at a church. I'm part of our communications team and run production for the Sunday services. There ya go, fun fact of the day.
I also work in fast food, so all in all I manage about 55 hours a week in regular work. Not a big deal, I don't really do too much and since I wrecked my car by looking down at the wrong moment I kinda need the cash so it's all good.
I decided to be part of both of our Christmas productions though, which is what's hurting a little. The first thing, a Radio Theatre style thing, is this Friday and Saturday so no biggie, but then the other is Christmas Eve.
I'm mostly getting by on music and Monster, so yeah. Good times.

I swear, the fact that I always think I've posted songs here before is the most annoying thing. I found a really freaking cool song by Stevie Stone a while ago and I thought I posted it. Apparently I didn't though, which bugs the hell out of me.
Well here's another one of his songs that really good too. Take the time to listen to the whole thing. Not just the rapping, pay attention to the beat and all of it. It's really smooth and just flows in a really nice way.

This album continues to be one of my favorite albums I've ever heard. Not only was it the first Tech N9ne album I bought, as far as I can tell it might even be his best. Wooo, dumb luck for the win!
This song is fantastic because it has the singer and guitarist from Deftones making it all cool, ya know? This song is my second favorite song on the entire album actually. I already posted the first one though, so you'll have to track it down separately.
Crap, fell asleep while writing this. Ah well.
Anyway though, there's a certain element to this song that I just can't get past. It's a song I can listen to every day and still no get tired of it which is why I'm sharing it with you today.

It's been a really long time since I posted a Tech N9ne song, so I feel like it's time to post one again, right?
This song is great for many reasons, but I'm gonna focus on the ones I can think of off the top of my head because I'm lazy that way. Who knows, maybe I'll get all deep or whatever on it, we'll see.
First things first, the beat. The beat sounds similar to something like a Black Sabbath song. It's got a fun gritty sound to it and is a decent riff in general. Real bluesy and smooth. On top of that Krizz's hook is tight.
And there's the guest vocalist on here. He's got loads of decent lines throughout his verse but I have one that really kinda speaks to me. He says "Every time you cut a corner you make 2 more." I know this probably isn't original or anything and it's possibly just a rehashing of an old proverb or whatever, but I love it. Out of everything in this song it's just a really fun thing that stuck out to me for whatever reason.
Honestly I feel like the album was a bit of a let down in the long term. I liked it a lot when it came out but after a while I just kept returning to a couple of my favorite tracks here and there. There's a lot of songs on the album, but for the most part I just really like about 5 or 6 of them which isn't really a great thing. This song though is one of the ones I like a lot though and that's what's really important, right?
Give it a listen, I'm sure you'll like it at least a little bit.
I have thix cd in my car right now, so I thought I would share this song with you. This is one that I really enjoy. Not the best on the album, but definitely not the worst. The verses that other people hop on in this song are solid, the flows are good, and the backing track has a lot of really good things going on.
After listening to the song yesterday I decided to listen to some other albums I have't listened to in a while. Came across "All 6s & 7s" again and was reminded of some of my favorite tracks.
I don't know if this is my favorite song, but it does have some of my favorite moments. I'm not sure what it is, but the one verse just gets me, kinda like yesterday's song.
Give this one a listen too, cause even if you don't like rap you should be able to appreciate the fact that this is a good song.
Hey look, it's Tech N9ne! It's the rapper that you're all probably sick of by now! Heck yeah, the stuff that only I'm still cool with right now! I mean, I know that probably most of you aren't really into rap, and that those of you who are might be annoyed that this is one of the only rappers I listen to, but bear with me. It's a really good album.

This is, in my opinion, one of Tech's strongest albums. That being said, I've only heard 4 of his albums, but that's enough to pick a favorite.
There are songs that I love more than all the rest, but I'll give you the full list of favorite tracks later on.
First off you need to listen to the song No Can Do. It's hook is just Tech singing "Y'all can't f*ck wit us" is a digitally lowered voice and while you may not like that so much, it makes for a really catchy song. It's a driving song with a good beat, good for working out and such.
Next we've got Jellysickle. The beat for Jellysickle just kinda bumps along and with the background vocals it gives a cool fun vibe to the song. I also really like the higher synth line, it's a synth tone I just really like. E-40 is featured on this song and what he adds just bumps this song up from good to great.
Now we've got Bout Ta Bubble. This song is really bouncy and thus, enjoyable. I don't know why I love this song so much, I just do.
Caribou Lou is a song about drinking a drink so strong that you lose your entire evening. Being the nice guy he is, Tech even hints at the recepie for you. It's half a bottle of 151, 1 cup of Malibu Rum, the the very vague step of "fill the rest of the jug with pineapple juice." It's a really strong drink obviously enough, so if you're gonna try it make sure to be careful.
My Wife, My Bitch, My Girl is a song that just amuses me. I don't know what it is, but maybe it's the lead up from it's intro track talking like he's on some sort of game show.
Finally we have Welcome To The Midwest. I love the beat to this song, what with the acoustic guitar line it has and all. Also I like the Sinatra-esq chorus. All in all it's a very enjoyable song.
Alrighty then, let's hit up a track list and give it a listen! The double stars are what I already talked about, and the single stars are my other favs that just didn't quite make the cut.
The much awaited album Special Effects! I've been pretty excited about this for a while now. You know why? We've got both Corey Taylor and Eminem on this. Those two are the collabs that Tech has wanted to do for a while but wasn't able to for whatever reason.
So with my initial listening I'm gonna call this a really solid album. Tech puts out so many albums (on or two a year) I find it a little hard to keep up, but here this is, and I'm actually able to listen to it.
This was released on May 5th, just in case that matters to you.
For real, there's not too many tracks I don't care for. I'm personally not a fan of the skit tracks, but I get that they help set the tone for the next song without messing around with the actual track itself.

I'll admit, on my first listen I wasn't as happy with it as I hoped I would be, but I have now decided that I like it a lot.
I really enjoy fast rapping, and this song is nothing if not fast rapping. It also has a killer track. Like, really though, just listen to the music, it's great.

So I mentioned that Tech N9ne is one of the fastest rappers I've ever heard, but that's not like the only thing he does. Like many artists, Tech has more than one song style he does.
This song is a much slower, darker sounding song. I suppose that's a good thing for a sogn called Boogieman, but I still thought I'd mention it.
Also, the more I listen to him the more confused I am as to whether he runs a cult or not...
I first came in contact with Tech N9ne when he did a song with Five Finger Death Punch. At that time, I kinda assumed that he was a small time person, considering very few of my friends knew who he was and such. I was just a little wrong.
I have come to realize that Tech N9ne is one of the fastest rappers around, and that his music is reasonably weird.
This song for example features Serj Tankian, formerly of System of a Down. Serj likes him some political tunes, and after reading what his part would be in this song he probably said something like, "Oh look, an establishment! Let's protest it." The video seems to play off of the whole Don't Drink The Kool Aid cult stereotype, and the lyrics definitely are critical of people who don't question what is handed to them.
