I'm really happy that Fetty Wap is continuing to make music. It's not like I thought he'd stop or anything, but it's comforting to know that he's still putting out some fun, chill music.
This is a really funny song to just kick back with, and as is Fetty's style, the lyrics just flow smoothly. I'm really glad he's at this point and settling into a groove that's a little better than before.

I'm kinda bummed for this one. Like, I kinda enjoyed Evanescence's first album a lot. I didn't really listen to it until it was overplayed to death and such, but I still liked it. I wasn't a huge fan of their second album cause it felt really laid back though. Amy Lee has a fantastic voice, don't get me wrong, but I feel like she can't be the main focus of the group.
These guys were right in the forefront of the Alt Metal movement for a while and arguably were one of the more popular acts since they had a lot of success across the board. I feel like they steppe their sounds back a little too far for my tastes, but that doesn't mean they can't be good. Just not as good to me.
I miss the rapper mostly, his little bits were fun.

Gotta love a little Jazz from time to time. I've never been the biggest fan of Jazz with words in it myself, I tend to like the stuff that's instrumental. Not all of Dizzy's work is instrumental, but as far as words Jazz goes when he has them in I like that a lot as well, ya dig?
This'll just be a chill post as does befit Jazz, but I'm sure I'll have a bunch of you annoyed with whatever I post tomorrow.

So I have a friend who's a film major. I went to visit him over the weekend last week and found he's discovered the wonderful little world of Electro-Swing. Now I'm not super familiar with a lot of the artists in this genre, but I do know that they're a blast to listen to. It's classy sounding music to be playing in the background of events when you want to be modern but also old school type vibe. Good stuff.
Anyway, as a film dude I thought he'd enjoy aspects of the Praise Abort video. I was right, he did a bit. While we were watching though apparently I remined him of another video, this one.
I forget how many cameras he said were involved, but all the circle shots were done in a single take. Not like, first try or anything, but more in the area of there's not really editing tricks as much as there's a pile of fun camera angles working for ya. It's a catchy song and a really cool video, so I hope ya like it.

Not as pleasant a song as letter A, I can at least reassure you that this song is only 55 seconds long. I was gonna link to the music video, but I feel like I'd have had to tag an epilepsy warning because dang, that was a lot of flashing.
I really love Grind. The songs are short and aggressive and as such can keep my attention. Interestingly enough, I sometimes feel like the songs are almost too long, ya know? Well, I'm sure most of you will feel that this song is far too long, but that's just how it is when I post songs people will hate.
I majorly feel that this is my favorite genre of music. Sure, I listen to a lot of Rap and tamer Metal, but when it comes to what I like performing and such this is such a great style of music. It's like a trainwreck.
Black Mask though, let's actually talk about them for a second. They were a straight up amazing live show. I saw them opening for some guys I ended up not really caring for, but hot dang, Black Mask brought the house down. The set up on the floor of the house and the singer managed to belt out the song while also dancing around in the pit like a maniac. So much energy was brought to the show at that point, so good.
Well then, Like, Comment, Share, the works. Lemme know what you'd like to hear down the line, I can get some stuff after the A to Z is over as long as you stick around.

Songs about drug addiction are never a happy subject, and songs about heroin are even less so. But hey, Layne Staley wrote about what he did, right? While he was a fantastic vocalist, he did have his problems.

And here we are, the A to Z! I will not be visiting anybody today because I work till like, 11:30 tonight. Imma have to make up tomorrow.
But hey, if you aren't a regular reader then thanks for the visit! We're gonna kick off the month with something I didn't think I'd end up liking, a Christian rapper.
As a general rule I don't care for Christian music. I play it every week, I listen to a decent amount, but I honestly believe most of it is just bad. The more I've thought about it the more I feel like Christians as a whole are willing to take borderline reject music because that's what is deemed as ok. This leaves us with the eternally shifting lineup of the Newsboys, tobyMAC, and other bigger names that don't really sound good anymore. They're dated.
We have the new wave coming in though on the "extreme" ends of the spectrum. First you had the Hardcore scene. Christian bands took off there because they were raw and real with people and that resonated with the community really well. Now we're getting really good representation in the Rap community as well, which is really cool I feel. The Rock end of things may end up always being a little blah, but that's ok.
Andy Mineo is really solid as far as rappers go. He goes fast with a solid flow and you can understand the words he's saying, which is a really good deal. There's one line in the song where he's talking about his opposition in the music community and he, among other things, says "You will never write a verse like Kendrick." in a style that sounds very much like Kendrick. I dunno, I liked that bit a lot.
Here's the thing though, it takes two things to do well in Rap. You need to actually be pretty good, but you also need good beats. Boom, Andy nailed both.
