ZZ Ward - Bag Of Bones

Artist: ZZ Ward
Song: Bag Of Bones
Album: The Storm (2017)
Genre: Blues Rock

I feel like a good choice of what to post today was the song we ended on last night/this morning at the show.  Not gonna lie, it was an absolute blast to play at a non-church event, which is my current realm of experience.

Ironically to posting this, I didn't actually play on this one.  The drummer and I dipped for this last song and just the guitarist played along, but it's the only other cover we did, so it's not like I can share anything else, haha

It's a fun blues rock deal too, so there's a lot of desirable aspects to this song, I hope y'all like it.

Dorothy - Freedom

Band: Dorothy
Song: Freedom
Album: 28 Days In The Valley (2018)
Genre: Blues Rock

Gonna share this song, cause I'm playing in a band next weekend that's covering it!  If any of y'all are in Erie Pa, come out to Sherlocks on the 7th to see us.  I think we go on at 11pm.

It's a good song though, hope y'all like it!

ZZ Top - She Loves My Automobile

Band:  ZZ Top
Song:  She Loves My Automobile
Album:  Deguello
Genre:  Blues Rock

While listening to Blue Öyster Cult yesterday I managed to stumble across ZZ Top somehow.  I'm mildly concerned that I'm about to go on some sort of Classic Rock run, but I feel like I'll be able to avoid that.

Here's a solid song from them that's not as popular as some of their others, which is what I'm gonna try to do for as many of the next few bands I post as possible.  It'll make me look for more obscure tunes and it'll showcase some bands lesser known tunes.  Good times.

Warren Zevon - Werewolves Of London

Artist:  Warren Zevon
Genre:  Blues Rock

Most likely everybody's heard this song at least once in their life.  I grew up hearing it from time to time and always being bummed out when that Kid Rock song came on.  It sounded like a cross between this and Sweet Home Alabama, but it always fooled me for half a second.  Nowadays I wouldn't be fooled at all, but back then I was very unobservant.

I don't think I've heard many of Warren Zevon's other songs, but listening to this song you can tell he's not a bad artist at all.  Blues Rock is always a fun genre because it encompasses so much stuff.  Like this song has a groovy piano line to it, but a lot of his other songs have a strong guitar presence to them.  He basically can do whatever he wants with his music cause of that.

Well he can't now cause he died in 2003, but he could back then at least.

Black Country Communion - Black Country

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BlackCountryCommunionBelgium2011.jpg

Band:  Black Country Communion
Genre:  Blues Rock

If you've ever wanted to hear a rather impressive supergroup then look no further that Black Country Communion.  Joe Bonamassa, Glenn Hughes, Derek Sherinian, and Jason Bonham form one of the few supergroups that aren't drowning in 90s inspired Grungy Rock.  It's honestly rather fantastic since all of these dude's are really amazing musicians it just all flows so well.
Joe Bonamassa is really a fantastic guitarist in everything he touches, but I honestly can't say I really like his voice.  Maybe the only downside to this group.

Them Crooked Vultures - Nobody Loves Me & Neither Do I

Band:  Them Crooked Vultures
Genre:  Blues Rock
Language:  Mild

Supergroups are interesting things.  Sometimes they're amazing gifts of music, other times they are just kinda overrated.  This is John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl, and Josh Homme, and it's actually a rather good sounding group.  I'm not too into Blues Rock usually, but this is some stuff I could get into after a while.  I dunno, it's nice enough and worth a listen.

Joe Satriani - The Phone Call

Artist:  Joe Satriani
Genre:  Blues Rock

Day 1 of having traveled to another state to train people how to do their jobs.  Hey hey!  I'll give out an update in the evening/afternoon again like with yesterday's post.

I used to listen to this guy a lot and I can't quite remember why I stopped.  He's a really solid guitarist that plays notes like a machine.  Not as crazy as John Petrucci, but straight up crazy nonetheless.

I really love this song though, when I first heard it the fact that he was using an effect on his voice it blew my mind.  I'm not sure why it blew my mind so much, but it was probably because I was 14 at the time.

AFTERNOON UPDATE:

Well here's day 1 finished.  Worked an extra hour, climbed a ladder to the roof, and continue to be terrified.  You know what though?  This is a lot of fun.  My roommate is pretty cool, so far my coworkers seem cool, and the owner doesn't seem too bad either.

Rival Sons - Torture

Don't let the name put you off, it's not horrible violent music.  This is some good classic rock sounding music that is really killer.

Rival Sons is a Blues Rock band from Long Beach California.  They're actually reasonably successful so there's a good chance you've heard of them.  If you're into good guitar work and Zeppelin-esque vocal work, this is a band you should check out.
