I know for a fact that Jimi is one that my dad gave me.  I was originally going to share his take on The Star Spangled Banner since that's what I used to listen to from him the most, but when it comes down to it I only listened to about the first minute for all the fun guitar intro.  If we're going for songs I listened to all of, it'd have to be Purple Haze.

See, I was under the impression that Jimi was a Metal musician,  I literally only thought that cause he did that version of the Star Spangled Banner.  As such, Purple Haze was one of the only songs I found of his that really fit the image I had of him in my head.  I have since come to appreciate him for more than that, but dang did it take me ages.

Joe Cocker - Come Together

Something like 6 or more years ago my friend loaned me a movie called Across The Universe.  It's a movie that follows the life of a dude who comes to America and meets people and have an adventure.

It's narrated with a pile of Beatles songs that were all covered by the people acting in the movie for the movie.  It was honestly a really cool movie, I'd advise you watch it if you haven't before.

I dunno, it's a rather solid movie that had a bunch of fun songs too, right?

Speaking of fun songs this is a really cool version of this one.  It's better than Godsmack's version in my mind because this is a much more reimagined sound.  The Aerosmith and Godsmack versions both just kinda sound like a cover, where as this is more of a tribute, ya feel?

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Pride And Joy

As I chose this my brother came into the room.  He was all like, "No, you can't pick a guitar hero song!"  I'm sorry, this is the only song by Stevie that I really know.

I heard it on the radio today, then I saw a crappy cover on Facebook, so I know that this is meant to be.  #SorryNotSorry

I like the song though, I mean, there's a reason it's popular.  Or at least as popular as a blues song can get, right?

B B King - Rock Me Baby / The Thrill Is Gone

As some of you may be aware, legendary blues musician B.B. King died on Wednesday the 14th.  The man was an absolutely fantastic Blues guitarist who never played more notes than he had to.  If you watch the videos here, you'll see that basically everybody else plays a more than he does.

One of my favorite things about B.B. King is that he makes fantastic faces while he plays.  I mean seriously, look at "Rock Me Baby" and tell me that those faces aren't the best.

My dad used to play the videos from Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival and Mr King was one of my favorite people to watch when he came on.  Sure, other people were good and all and I'm not trying to claim my musical taste was super refined then, but there were some people I just enjoyed more.

It's a really sad thing that this guy's dead, not gonna lie.  Check out the two songs here, check out his studio stuff, and just enjoy it a little bit.

ZZ Top - Waitin' For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago

ZZ Top is a band that has been around forever, they are quite literally legends.

While you're probably familiar with a couple of their usual singles, this one is mildly less popular.  Actually it's 2 songs, but they need to be played together, otherwise you're cheating.

I'm not gonna waste all my ZZ Top facts, cause I know they'll turn up here again.  Hey, a man needs to keep some stories for later, right?
