Artist: Vanilla Ice
Song: Too Cold
Album: Hard To Swallow
Genre: Nu-Metal
I'm sure something that just keeps you up at night is "What does Vanilla Ice do anymore?"
Now this isn't really current, but this is what Mr Ice was doing in the late 90s and early 2000s. I mean, I love this genre as a whole, but I'm not really too sold on V-Ice's contribution to it. I wouldn't mind taking the time to check out more of it though.
Apologies, late night and all that, longer post tomorrow.
Artist: P!nk
Song: Just Like Fire
Album: Alive Through The Looking Glass Soundtrack
Genre: Pop
So I have a bit of a project I'm working on for another connected string of posts, but I want to make sure I actually do them justice, so there might be a couple iffy posts on the in between.
For the next few days I'm gonna be posting artists who are not only impressive vocally, but also amazing at putting on a stage show.
Honestly, I should be shot if I didn't decide to include P!nk on this list. Outside of just being a straight up amazing vocalist she's managed to keep up a fantastic stage show for years. Like, she's crazy acrobatic at her live shows. Peep the link here and skip about halfway through to watch her singing, not missing a note, while upside down and also flipping around. Freaking heck man, how do you even do that. Pisses me off.
I had no clue how many songs of hers I had heard a lot before till I looked through some of her hits tonight picking this one. Like, I know a lot more of her songs than I thought I did. Dude.
Band: Dethklok
Song: Crush The Industry
Album: Dethalbum III
Genre: Death Metal
Firstly, I'm really pissed that Adult Swim didn't allow another season of Metalocalypse to be made. I freaking loved that show and all I get is the unfinished product that it ended up being. Still good, but also not quite completed.
But hey, musically we got 3 great albums that showcased Brendon Small's rise from just kinda caring about what he was doing to actually getting good at it and knocking the performance out of the park. Dethalbum III was a great example of his vocal work improving from the first one especially.
Artist: Gucci Mane (Guwop) feat. Young Thug
Song: Guwop Home
Album: Everybody Looking
Genre: Rap, Hip Hop, Trap
Language: Strong
Everybody Looking was probably one of the biggest surprises of 2016. Gucci had been in prison for ages at that point and a solid comeback was kinda not something a lot of people were thinking of.
Then he started popping up on social media though. The dude had dropped a ton of weight and wasted no time in putting out music. Didn't seem to matter to him that he was on House Arrest, dude ended up putting out 3 albums anyway.
In 6 months the man put out 3 albums.
Not bad albums either, it's really good music. You can tell what videos he shot while he was still on house arrest though, cause they're all in his mansion. Like, a lot of them. If you look at his right ankle in the thumbnail you can see his tracker too. Maybe it's visible in the video, but I'm not sure.
Aight then, here's G. Hope y'all from the A to Z are doing well. Lemme know how you're doing or something.
A hella long time back (like a month or so) I was planning on posting this song. Ended up not cause I posted Psycho Killer instead, so here's this one. I don't listen to these guys for the most part because they're an older band and, not that I have anything against older music, but generally I listen to newer things to try and keep up with what's happening. It's not the best thing, but it's something I'll work on.
Among many other reveals you'll learn that there is water at the bottom of the ocean. It's basically the biggest revelation since ever.
Gonna mention it again (and probably for at least a week), got a totally nifty Patreon for you to check out, it's gonna be great.
Artist: Childish Gambino (Donald Glover)
Genre: Rap, Hip Hop
Language: Strong
So I'm playing D&D with some friends of mine and it's a blast. We meet on Friday evenings and so far so good, right? Well we're talking backstory for some characters and the one dude mentioned his character's dad was named Gambino. I jokingly asked if the guy was childish and got generally blank looks with an awkward "sure?" Well turns out that Childish Gambino isn't as popular as I had assumed he was so here's some info about him.
Real name? Donald Glover. You may be familiar with him from his acting career. I wasn't, but you might be. He's going to play the new Lando Calrissian in some of the new Star Wars movies too, so I'm kinda pumped about that.
His name is kinda interesting though is how he got his name. Most people come up with names by themselves but this dude plugs his name into the Wu-Tang name generator to get his stage name. Low and behold this is what it came up with for him. Mine is X-pert Mastermind, so I guess that's kinda cool, right?
His flow is really good too, so all in all I'd call him a generally enjoyable artist.
Band: Slipknot
Genre: Nu-Metal, Metal
Themes: Dark
Slipknot, super edgy and all that. Well this was by far their darkest album, Iowa. It has some of their best songs on it and some of their angriest material. In fact, till this newest album it had the darkest and angriest songs.
This song is the only song on the entire album that I can play at work, and that's only because there's technically no swearing in it. Still though, check it out cause it's really good.
You know what, I am really sorry that this post is late, and I'll give you a reason tomorrow. I am gonna repost a song for the first time ever though.
I apologize for the repost, but I think most of you have never seen the original post anyway, so it's all good. Kinda.
Seeing as it's my birthday, I have plans to do absolutely nothing but work then home. Since I'm at work now I can't really do a huge post, so apologies.
p.s. I do not want a "big booty ho" for my birthday, it's just a really fun song that happens to be about birthdays.
So really there's no reason that I should like this song. It's a style I didn't used to like, but now I do seem to.
The first time I heard of 2Chainz I thought it was a joke because if you listen to some of the lyrics in this song, it's pretty dumb. He however, is not a joke and well worth checking out as something to amuse yourself for a brief time.
Also this song has Kanye West in it. Kanye West is Kanye Best.
