Mushroomhead - We Are The Truth

Band: Mushroomhead
Song: We Are The Truth
Album: ?
Genre: Nu-Metal

I'm not sure what this recording is from, as it differs from the original on The Righteous And The Butterfly.  I suppose they remade it since they've swapped out most of the vocalists at this point, and I suppose I'm not opposed it it.  I'm glad I found it in the area of Halloween since it's a fun creepy video, but I don't really get what's going on with the track.

It sounds fantastic though, they did good work with it, so I won't complain too much about it.

Nu-Vember: Mushroomhead - 43

Band:  Mushroomhead
Song:  43
Album:  Mushroomhead (1995)
Genre:  Nu-Metal
Language:  Strong

Here's a song from Nu-Metal icons Mushroomhead who are from Cleveland, a little under 2 hours away from me.  Cause of their vicinity, they actually play in Erie a lot, and I've managed to miss them every single freaking time.  It's incredibly frustrating.

That doesn't stop me from loving their music though, and that's what's important.

43 is a song that, if memory serves, is named after a keyboard setting they use to play the song.  It's a lyrically weird song, but that little trivia bit always makes me laugh a little bit.

The whole song is actually really weird, makes you a little uncomfortable really.  The weird little speech in the beginning coupled with that just plain off synth is just amazing.  I'd advise listening through the song just cause it's worth the experience.  It's a song that relies heavily on sound effects to set its tone and as such feels rather unique.

Mushroomhead - Qwerty

Band:  Mushroomhead
Song:  Qwerty
Album:  The Righteous And The Butterfly
Genre:  Nu-Metal
Language:  Strong

Who could forget about Mushroomhead, right?  I mean, most people think of them as a bunch of Slipknot knockoffs, but I would recommend you don't think of them that way.  Mostly because these guys were around for a solid few years before Slipknot were a solid, costume wearing thing.

Here's where I'm gonna have some issues backing up this one though, there's no good live videos of Mushroomhead.  I managed to find one that's decent, but it doesn't have nearly the audio quality I would prefer to give y'all.

These guys have some whack music videos and some whack concerts, but honestly that's some of the stuff that I just love.  Anybody who takes the extra step to incorporate their own art into their music is a winner in my book, and these guys are rather good at it.

Cover Week 2: Mushroomhead - Rumor Has It

Now if you were following me during the A to Z Challenge you might have heard this, but otherwise, here's a fantastic song.

I've gotta confess, I always forget that Adele exists.  I get reminded when she releases a new song, but then within a month she's gone.  Maybe that's just the way she is...

Check it though, good quality cover work here, with a tiny bit of the wub steps in there.

A to Z Challenge: R is for The Righteous And The Butterfly

Here we have Mushroomhead's latest release (aside from that Game of Thrones song) to date.

This album is one that I greatly enjoy, I actually start my day with We Are The Truth almost every single day.  Not sure why, it just kinda gets me pumped and ready to go.

There's a lot of really good songs on this album, and there's even an Adele song.  You guys remember her, right?  She had like 3 hits and disappeared forever.  Good times.

Still though, other than the really cool masks and greatly enjoyable music they've got a really killer stage presence.  My brother got to see them when they came to town in early January and he realyl didn't care for them till he saw them live.

Check out these tracks though, they're really good.

Our Apologies
How Many Times
Devils Be Damned
Qwerty
We Are The Truth
For Your Pleasure
Worlds Collide
Graveyard Du Jour
Out Of My Mind
Rumor Has It

Ok, so I like almost every track on the album.

Mushroomhead - Out Of My Mind

So funny thing about this song, the Vevo channel says it's called "Out Of My Head".  In the description they call it "Out Of My Mind" though, and everywhere else it's called the right thing.  I don't even know.

Also it turns out that Mushroomhead looks surprisingly good in Nazi-Esq uniforms.

You know, funny thing about the Nazi's uniforms.  They were designed by one Hugo Boss who also happens to be a rather famous clothing line now.  Go figure.

Edit 8pm:  You know what really irks me?  I almost got to see these guys live.  I. Was. This. Close.  I didn't cause it was the week I was out of town.  They played the day after I left and apparently had a really epic show.  My brother got to see them and he didn't even really listen to them till I he saw them live.  I am irked.

Mushroomhead - Sun Doesn't Rise

So I'm on a bit of a Nu-Metal kick right now, and I though what better band to continue with then the only band I listed the other day that I haven't made a post about yet.

So as you can see, these guys bear a reasonably similar look to Slipknot.  There's 9 of them, they've all got masks, and they play very similar music.  Also, like Slipknot, they change what their masks look like reasonably regularly.

They have a funny fan fight story though, which you can watch here.

Musically, I am both hot and cold with these guys.  Sometimes I'm really into them, then at other times I might hear a song that I don't like as much and I drop them for a good few months.  Eh, whatever though.

As a heads up, they have some really weird music videos.  Also this was a different mask era where they all looked the same.  Just as a heads up.
