Machine Head - Battery

When it comes to decent Metal bands you really can't ignore Machine Head.  Lifting themselves from a questionable Nu-Metal past in which they made some...  interesting music.  It wasn't bad and I really like a lot of it, but it objectively isn't as good as what they're putting out now.

On their grammy winning album though, the special edition featured a couple covers.  They were both quite good and didn't sound too much like a departure from their traditional sound, even though both were from very different bands.

1, Hallowed Be Thy Name by Iron Maiden.  I think I posted it a while ago, but I don't feel like looking for it right now.

2, Battery by Metallica.  Both of them sound like songs that were clearly not written by Machine Head, but at the same time they were both taken into the style well enough.  I do miss the open string harmonics that are so prevalent in MH's music, but I can live without them I guess.

Cover Week 2: Machine Head - Hallowed Be Thy Name

Robb Flynn of Machine Head may be one of Metal's biggest d-bags, but he does have some talent.  One thing that this band is good at is doing killer covers of other people's songs.  This song is no exception.

I love this.  They treated the song well, without deviating too much, but they also managed to make it just a little bit of their own.

8-Bit music: Machine Head - Halo

I hope you listened to Halo when I posted it near the beginning of December.  It's a freaking awesome song that is totally worth the 9 minute listen.

This is an 8-bit version of that song and it's a pretty decent version as 8-bit goes.  They have a tenancy to be crappy a lot of the time, but I like this one.

Machine Head has a really really killer sound.  They've got harmonies, they've got killer leads, and just in general are things I like.

This album specifically has some amazing stuff on it, but today I'm just showing you this cause it's one of my favorites on the album.

One thing I don't like about the band though is that the singer is a gigantic a-hole.  An excellent example of it would be the statement he made when they canceled a tour with Children Of Bodom so they could work on their album.
