Today's song is gonna be a little ditty from Children of Bodom's album that many consider to be the best.  I'm a fan of their work in general, including their generally disliked album Bloodrunk (which I think suffered from bad mixing more than anything).  I hope you enjoy the melodious tones of Alexi Laiho, who is both the vocalist and lead guitarist.  He also plays drunk out of his mind and still can keep up these notes and speeds, fun trivia piece.

Welcome to the A to Z of 2016!  I'm freaking pumped.  Like, really pumped.

So the way we're gonna run this is if it's an artist we'll do a little bit of info about them in whatever act showcases their talent the most.  If it's a band then we talk about the band.  #EasyStreet

Alexi Laiho is one of the best Metal guitarists out there right now.  Dude can play really fast while singing lead, but that's not all he can do.
First:  He can do that live which is impressive in itself.
Second:  He is literally almost always drunk at shows and it doesn't impact his playing or singing in a major way.  It's actually really impressive to see as I think I posted in the past.

If you've never heard his band Children Of Bodom before then you should really make a point to check them out.  They combine Classical music styles with Death Metal.  Neo Classical is a very interesting type of music that, while not everybody's cup of tea, is impressive to see pulled off well.

Children Of Bodom pulls it off very well, and their newest album continues their trend of knocking it out.  With the exception of one album that fans agree really wasn't that great they have put out solid music since 1993.

This is one of my favorite songs.  Period.

I don't know what it is about this band, but any of their fast songs are way near the top of my favorite songs list.

If you happen to want to, make sure to check out the live version.  The front man Alexi manages to keep up with both the vocals and playing, even though he's a bit drunk.  Apparently all of their shows are like this.

Still though, good music right here.

Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God

I really could have sworn that I posted this song before.  Like, I was 100% sure I had and I even remember some of the things I said.  But apparently I didn't, because I can't find any evidence of it in my past posts.  Ah well.

Amon Amarth is a Melodic Death Metal band that is commonly referred to as Viking Metal because of the fact that they look like a pack of mutha' effin vikings and sing about Norse mythology.

I feel like I talk about Alexi Laiho outside of his actual band more than anything, but he played the solo on this song.  Ya know, doing his thing where he throws out all the notes as quickly as possibly?

Machine Head - Halo

Machine Head has a really really killer sound.  They've got harmonies, they've got killer leads, and just in general are things I like.

This album specifically has some amazing stuff on it, but today I'm just showing you this cause it's one of my favorites on the album.

One thing I don't like about the band though is that the singer is a gigantic a-hole.  An excellent example of it would be the statement he made when they canceled a tour with Children Of Bodom so they could work on their album.

Children Of Bodom - Hate Me!

Children Of Bodom is a Melodic Blackened Powermetal band.  I think at least, it's kinda complicated because they're kinda a mix of all 3, but not really.

This is the band that Alexi Laiho is from.  You may remember him from the Amon Amarth song I posted a little while back as the guy that played the shredding face-meltingly fast solo.  In Bodom he is also the singer, so imagine the fact that he's playing most of these killer leads at the same time as singing.  Dude, that's intense.

Also they have a killer keyboard player who can follow the lead lines the guitar plays.  He plays them well enough that sometimes they switch out who's playing the lead and you might not even notice.

Hate Me! is one of my favorite songs too, because it has the best intro ever.  Seriously, that synth line makes me super ready to kick off the song.
