Rob Zombie - Well, Everybody's F***ing In A U.F.O.

Firstly, Rob Zombie needs to chill with these overly long song and album names.  Like, dude, this album's name is 9 words long, which is about 6 words too long.  And their such weird words, it's like reading a Madlib by an edgy 15 year old.

And then I suppose we could get into his subject matter being less than stellar.  Here's my problem though, the song is so freaking catchy that I can stop listening to it.  Same with a few of his other questionable tunes, I just like what Rob does.

Eh, here's a song.  The music video is a little weird, but once you get past the beginning 4 minutes the actual music video is decent.  I'll let you look up that one though.

Rammstein - Keine Lust

Now you can't just give solo artists the big ups.  There are some bands that really manage to put on straight up fantastic shows, one of them being Rammstein.

Their music is such a weird art, and their videos and live show only help that whole image.  This song for example is about extreme excess, and how it leaves you dead and senseless eventually.  The video shows this by having them all be incredibly overweight and waited on by beautiful women that they just don't have the time for.  The title of the song translates literally to "Do not feel like" or, I don't feel like it.

They really shine in their live shows though.  With fire, explosions, lights, and humiliation, they manage to transcend a standard performance and turn it into a whole new piece of art.  One of my favorite examples of that is their show at Madison Square Gardens.  Check out this one, Till, the singer, get's elevated a good 20 to 30 feet up with no saftey gear and shoots off pyrotechnics while he's up there.  The whole band has their routine that happens each show and it never fails to disappoint.  Probably the best part is that they manage to play the music really close to the albums, if not better.

Side note, I'm not sure if their mics do this in the live video I picked, but the guitarists do backup vocals at some points and the mics lay down on the stage till they need them.  I think that's pretty slick honestly, keeps 'em from being a distraction from the main show till they rise dramatically, then they go away again till the next time.

Any band that can manage to sound just like their albums when they play live are winners in my book, and Rammstein in that regard has earned a bit of your time.  Be sure to check 'em out.

Lindemann - Praise Abort

I feel like I always post some weird songs on Sunday.

Probably my favorite thing to come out of 2015 was Lindemann, the joint efforts of Till Lindemann of Rammstein and Peter Tägtgren of Hypocrisy and PAIN.

I listened through most of the album, but I never got past Yukon, which was the track right before this majestic tune.  On an impulse in like, the beginning on January, I decided to finally give this song a listen.  I had heard it had a really solid music video and since it was like, 1 am, I figured it was a good time to check it out.

Whoa.

I feel I should clarify, this song is meant as a parody.  Till has said that in interviews it's a joke song about a friend of his with too many kids.

Now this video.  My goodness it's a well done video.  The main section is in that all white stage and I really feel like that just helps everything stand in a really cool contrast.  The stage has this borderline cheesy Broadway vibe to it that I really love.  The second verse is a little weird as it delves into Till venturing into the homosexual spectrum to avoid having more kids instead of, you know, just being a little more careful than he apparently had been in the past.

The pig visual of him with all these parasitic entities is solid though if you want to rep kids being nothing more than money pits.

All in all while I may not agree with the message of the song (or at least the perceived message), I can't deny that the art of the video is solid.  If you wanna see the making of video here's the link.  It's a fun watch and explains the thinking behind the video pretty well.

Lindemann - Fish On

So at this point this album is over a year old and I still never got around to reviewing it.  I feel really bad about that cause I honestly meant to, but what can ya do.

Basically the whole album is a collection of perversion, so if you're into weird dark stuff then I'm sure you'd love it.

We'll save that talk for when I remember to finally review the album though, so here's another single from it, eh?  It's really weird lyrically and while I'm not surprised by that it might take you off guard.  So yeah, heads up.

Apparently Till has said that the songs are mostly satire, but hey, read into the songs what you want, eh?

Rammstein - Tier

So firstly huge shoutout to Bobaflex if any of those dudes stick around for any other posts.  I posted their band yesterday and all the sudden I'm getting Facebook page likes and other such attention.  Turns out they liked my page and even took the time to comment here, so that's hella dope in my opinion.  \m/

Aight, this is a freaking 2 AM post though because, once again, I was enjoy the time my friend is back in town.  Had another dude with us tonight though who, while we were listening to all kinds of tunes, asked for some Rammstein.  I'm always down for that cause Rammstein is freaking awesome, so we started up with that.  He requested either this song or Bestrafe Mich, so we went with this one.  Pro tip, the other song is great as well, the whole album is wonderful.  You've probably heard the song Du Hast, which is also on the album.

But yeah man, good times.  Apologies for the shoddy quality posts, I'm just really freaking tired.  I'll be better tomorrow I think.

Marilyn Manson - Tainted Love

Something something catchy cover song.

The video is freaking weird though, the only redeeming factor is that both Chris Evans and Joey Jordison are briefly featured in it.

Song's good though, that dragging sound that a lot of Nu-Metal songs have is nice and strong here.  You know what I mean?  That sound like the song doesn't actually want to be there and it's just along for the ride?  I dunno, it's the vibe I get from the song at least.

Lindemann - Skills In Pills

Themes:  Lots of drugs.  The song is literally called Skills In Pills.

So while I was waiting for this album to come out, I also totally forgot to look into it happening.  Hey now, nobody said I was always on top of things.  This is an album I really want to take the time to review, but so that I don't forget I'm gonna share this with you now.

This is an album I've heard is really messed up.  Thing is though, this is an album that Till Lindemann sings in English.  A lot of people don't realize that most of his songs were like this; they just were in German before and they couldn't understand them.

Static-X - Bled For Days

Band:  Static-X
Genre:  Industrial Metal, Nu-Metal

Here we have another Nu-Metal band, Static-X.  They have a very special talent, and that talent is Wayne Static copying the vocal styles of all the other Nu-Metal bands of the time.

In this song you can hear him sounding like the vocalists from Coal Chamber and Mushroomhead, and in others he sounds like Jonathan Davis of Korn.  He sounded so much like the singers in question I actually checked to see if they had guested on the songs.  I suppose this is good, right?

Good music though, so enjoy!

Static-X - Push It

Genre:  Industrial Metal, Nu-Metal

Let's continue the Nu-Metal kick a little longer actually, cause it's a genre that I've been stuck on for just a little bit now.  Honestly it really bugs me when this happens, cause it's not like I can just flood you guys with a single genre like this.  It's not really nice of me, ya know?

Still though, this is another song I've been using to make it through the days recently.  It got added to my "Zip and Zing" playlist that's basically all just really fast paced music that I enjoy.  It's all stuff I like, but since I've been stuck on it I haven't had too many ideas of what to give you guys.

Hey, I'll be out of this rut soon, fear not.

Powerman 5000 - Super Villain

I feel so horribly disorganized this week.  I'm so tired I want to die.

Anyway, the music.

I feel like the driving beat of P5K will help get through this terribly exhausting existence I have for the time being, so why not share it with you as well?

If you didn't see the last two times I posted these guys late last year then I'll give you a couple things I might have mentioned before.

The singer, Spider, is Rob Zombie's brother.
Their music is featured in video games and movies because of the repetitive driving factor, though the singer doesn't like video games at all.

Marilyn Manson - (s)AINT

Manson gets a lot of bad rep because of a majority of his material being very obscene, but don't let this keep you away from some of his catchier songs.

I'm probably gonna have to do an album spotlight on this one soon, cause this is a really wonderful album in a lot of ways, but we'er just gonna talk about one single track this time.

What can I really say about this one.  It's got a reasonably catchy driving beat for the verse, the chorus is fun to sing along with, but there is one part that I really think stands out.  Hands down my favorite and catchiest part of the song is the end of verse 1 and the bridge portion in which he says "I've got an F and a C, and I've got a K too, and the only thing that's missing is a bitch like U."  I don't know what I like about it so much, it's just a catchy part of the song that I can't ever get out of my head.

I'm beginning to think I need some sort of early warning system for people to know whether they need headphones or whatever when they listen to this stuff.  Maybe a language warning?  Lemme know what you think, cause I'd hate to think I'm blindsiding some of you who are unfamiliar with some of the stuff I post.

Rammstein - Amerika

How does one get over the amount of 'Murica that was there yesterday?  With some "anti-'Murica" music, that's how.

Rammstein makes no bones in this song about how they dislike the corporate structure of America, but the song is still really enjoyable and catchy.  If you look at the translation they really bash on our capitalism.  I tell ya, what's life without some good old capitalism?

Rammstein - Ich Tu Dir Weh

Rammstein, gotta love that German Industrial Metal.  This is some reasonably messed up music actually, so if you just want to hear an enjoyable song just watch the main thing I posted and don't look into the subtitle link.

Now if you wish to know, the lyrics are probably about some very intense BDSM style stuff.  Not gonna lie, it almost scared me away from the song when I first looked up the lyrics.  One person though had the interesting idea that the song is about a Dentist.  Look here to see.  Got you the lyrics plus translation on this site as well if you're interested.

Fun fact about this video.  Til Lindemann the singer had a hole put in his cheek for this video.  They literally put a hole in his face to run a lightbulb through it so he could have it for live shows.  No CGI for Til's lights, he wants 'em put right in his mouth.

Device - Vilify

I can't remember if I've posted any Disturbed songs yet, but this is the side project of the singer, David Draiman.  It's not too bad if you enjoy the vague style of Nine Inch Nails, though there are some things I feel like the group could do better.

I feel like they need an actual bass player personally, but hey, I'm  not famous though so what do I know.

The more you listen to Device the more you'll realize that Draiman really needed Disturbed to hold him in place.  He kind of goes all over the place on this album turning it into the "Draiman Show" in a way.  Basically the group sounds like Disturbed but with more singing and less guitar riffs.

Powerman 5000 - Nobody's Real

We've got Powerman 5000 back with a song you may or may not have heard of.  This song is possibly my new favorite by them, so you should also enjoy it if you like any of the stuff I tend to post.

I know I've been revisiting bands I've already talked about, but really people I am only one man.  By myself I can physically only listen to so much music.  When I'm in an artist rut for example, I find it hard to talk about more than that one artist to anybody, much less actually think of things to say, ya know?

Also, can we please talk about his highlighter yellow hair?  Dude, come on now.

Powerman 5000 - Bombshell

Powerman 5000 is an Industrial Metal/Nu-Metal band, and the singer is the younger brother of the one and only Rob Zombie.

Actually that's one of the reasons I chose this track.  Out of the few I listened to tonight this was the one that sounded the most like Zombie to me, and I'd have to say that I might like this better.

These guys have an insane amount of energy going on that makes them a really catchy and fun group to listen to.  They started with some really good local success, and then managed to gain some large attention when they played the second stage at Ozzfest in 1996, following up with a main stage show the next year.

Hope you like this as much as I do.
