North Point - Death Was Arrested

Band: North Point
Song: Death Was Arrested
Album: Easter 2016 (Live)
Genre: Worship

So firstly, apologies for the hour long video here.  It's like, an hour long, but I cued it up to the start of the song I want.  I couldn't find it separate though, so you get North Point's entire 2016 Easter service.  This is my favorite performance of the song, so we're gonna have this one.

Figured it was as good a time as any for a life update though.

I've mentioned that I was done with school, but it's honestly been a big year, so let's do a quick re-cap.

At the end of last July (2017) I left my job of 5 years at Chick-fil-A to start at Toni&Guy.  It was a good job, loved the people, but it was time to move on, yeah?  Well last Sunday (the 10th) was the end of my about 4 years at First Alliance Church.  I was media there and, once again, it was a great job, but it was time for a change.  It's been a wild year honestly.  I left both my long term jobs, I finished school, about to start my new job, and I might even be coming back to Chick-fil-A for a part time gig.  Super pumped man, it's a good time.

So yeah, there's my little life update.

Lauren Daigle - Light Of The World

Artist:  Lauren Daigle
Genre:  Worship

Time for that fun post where I remind people that I'm a church working Christian right after a post like Slayer God hates us all...  Lucky for me I don't really care about consistency on that front, so here's the song that I spent 5 hours listening to yesterday.

I really love the harmonies in the chorus, they're hella pretty.

So I really don't enjoy listening to Worship music most of the time.  The only time I tend to enjoy it is when I'v eplayed it a lot and as such have good memories to attach to it.  Like, physically play, not list click play.

I don't quite remember if I played this one either though, and I'm also not sure if I even heard it before yesterday, but I kinda feel like I remember it.  A well, not really important.  It's a fantastic song and should be treated as such.

Bethel Music - To Our God

Band:  Bethel Music
Genre:  Praise & Worship

I'm giving you this to listen to because we played it at church recently.  It's one of my favorite songs to play because the way we do it makes it a load of fun.  I can't really say that I'm very familiar with the original other than the basic flow of the song because whenever we play it it get's a bit of each musician's flavor to it.  When me and my brother play it, especially with one of the drummers we occasionally play with, give the chorus a little bit of a Metal edge.  So much freaking fun.

Planetshakers - Endless Praise

Band:  Planetshakers
Genre:  Worship Music
Themes:  Jesus

We played this song in church yesterday and it was a lot of fun.  Unfortunately I'm not able to play the crazy bass parts but it still has a crazy amount of energy that just flat out makes it an enjoyable thing to do.

This Sunday was also the last week on the team for two friends of mine, Jocelyn and Moriah.  I've been in the band with them since we all were in youth band together like 7 or 8 years ago and dang, it's really gonna suck for them to be gone.  But hey, school is a thing and it's what they want, so that's that.  It was a really good sendoff set, that's for sure.

Rich Mullins - Sing Your Praise To The Lord

Gonna do a throw way back here.  This is music I remember growing up with and I remember always being confused by the intro.  The Hammer Dulcimer has a sound to it that I wasn't sure how to handle.

Still though, this song is straight childhood for me, so don't say anything bad about it, you'll ruin my nostalgia!  haha, or whatever, it's up to you.

Jeremy Riddle - Breaking Through

Hey, some more church music on a Sunday!  I feel like if I'm gonna post one like this it's usually Sunday, but whatever.

This is another fun song to play, which is the only reason I post a lot of these to be honest, though I haven't got to play it in a while.  It's kinda fun though.

Honestly, I really don't like this guys voice too much.  The guy the sang for us, Caleb Ashton, did a fantastic job.  I freaking love his voice.  If you aren't familiar with who he is, check out the Oh Holy Night video from December.

Yeah, that really doesn't have too much to do with the song at hand, but it's what I associate this song with.

Phil Wickham - This Is Amazing Grace

You know what?  It's Sunday, let's post some Jesus music.

This is a song we do at church a lot and it's one of my favorites.  It's really freaking hard to lay since the entire song is 8ths on bass with the exception of the chorus.  You can hear it best in the verse, but that's how it goes the whole times.  Honestly it probably goes like that through the chorus a bit too, but my fingers can't quite handle that.  After 1 rehearsal and two services my fingers feel about ready to fall off.  Basically the worst thing ever, but the song is so much fun that I don't even care.

If this isn't your cup of tea then I'm sorry.  I'm sure some of the Satan stuff that I posted during Halloween wasn't everybody's favorites stuff either.
