A to Z 2k18: N is for Nile

Band:  Nile
Song:  Lashed To The Slave Stick
Album:  Annihilation Of The Wicked (2005)
Genre:  Death Metal

Who here likes Egypt?  Cool, I have a band for you.

It's not often you find a band that's as lyrically theatrical as Nile while actually giving information.  If you listen to what these guys have to say, you'll actually get a load of Egyptian mythology thrown at you.  Most of that's because the primary writer, Karl Sanders, is a huge Egypt buff.

On top of that their songs are crushingly brutal.  I remember checking these guys out in the past and really not enjoying what they had to offer, but listening again I'm fully willing to believe I just picked up the wrong album.  I mean, I enjoy Death Metal a lot more now than I used to as well, but no biggie.

QUESTION!  What's been your favorite song I've posted so far this month / What band have you been most excited to get introduced to?

You can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+, or even sponsor me on Patreon. No big, do whatever. But yeah, Twitter and Facebook are where I’m most active.

Rings Of Saturn - Natural Selection

Band:  Rings Of Saturn
Genre:  Deathcore, Technical Death Metal, Aliencore

Saw these guys tour with Thy Art Is Murder a few months back and they probably were the most interesting band in the way that they opened their set.

The singer who had clearly been smoking more than a little weed before hand walks on stage after the instrument sound check and, after grabbing the mic just stares at the crowd.

He then starts just saying the word "meow".  The whole crowd starts repeating him and he starts saying things like "Meow says the cat.  Meow says the....  Dog."  After that he just stared at us all and said "We are Rings of Saturn and we're going to play you some songs.  This is one of them."  At this point they immediately launched into one of the songs off of their newest album, the art for which is pictured above.

Solid time, I'd recommend seeing them live for the experience.

Job for A Cowboy - Entombment Of A Machine

Band:  Job For A Cowboy
Genre:  Death Metal, Technical Death Metal

So these guys were kinda an early Deathcore band, but not really.  The lines between their music and the Deathcore scene at the time were a little blurred, but once they put out a full album they switched fully to Death Metal.

Hands down the coolest part of this song is a break in the beginning where the song cuts and there's just this high scream.  When they play it live they get the whole crowd to do it and it's legitimatly jaw dropping to see them pull it off.

There's other really cool parts to the song as well, but that's the one that stands out to me the most.

Fleshgod Apocalypse - Thru Our Scars

Arguably the band that should be called "The Kings Of Blast Beats", Fleshgod Apocalypse is an Italian Tech Death band signed to Nuclear Blast Records.  See?  I told you they have good bands.

Now this whole album is really good, and there's not too much cooler than listening to metal with symphonic elements (have you all figured out my favorite genre yet?).  I only discovered these guys in the area of 2 months ago, so I don't have too much to say about them other than that I haven't heard a bad song from them yet.  Seriously, these guys are tight.
