Apocalyptica - Helden

Band:  Apocalyptica feat. Till Lindemann
Genre:  Symphonic Metal

Apocalyptica is a group you may have heard of in the past.  They started out as a Metallica tribute act that played all the songs on cello, but they have since evolved to the point that they got a pile of their own tunes that are fantastic.

From time to time they invite vocalists from other groups to sing over a song.  They've released a lot of really solid tunes this way, but this is one of my favorites because it features the amazingly talented vocalist Till Lindemann of Rammstein.

Till is possibly my favorite vocalist in Metal.  The fact that a guy with a voice like his is singing in an industrial metal group instead of something that would gain more mainstream recognition is amazing to me.  He probably wouldn't want to considering his opinions that have been displayed to date, but still.

Within Temptation - And We Run

Band:  Within Temptation feat. Xzibit
Genre:  Symphonic Metal
Language:  Brief, Strong

So I'm sitting and listening to music, right?  While I am sitting and doing something that I do on a daily basis I decide to make a playlist of Power, Melodic Death, and Symphonic Metal.  Ya know, just cause.

I go to Nightwish's Spotify page and see an album that is them, Within Temptation, and Epica.  While scrolling past it to more familiar songs I see the name Xzibit.  I assumed it was something like what happened on Ghost B.C.'s page where they accidentally go credited with writing a Wu-Tang album, but no.  No no no no no.  It was actually Xzibit on a Symphonic Metal song.

The best part?  It's not terrible.  I actually would love to hear them do more like this or more of the style from another band.

Nuclear Blast again for those of you following with me.

Oh, and just in case you didn't believe me about the Ghost thing, here's my proof.  Search it, it's down near their first release and only got added fairly recently.  Recently meaning like, in the last couple months.

Nightwish - Bye Bye Beautiful

Band:  Nightwish
Genre:  Power Metal, Symphonic Metal

This, as I have mentioned before, is a very good band.  The video on the other hand, is nothing short of hilarious.

You see, when Nightwish got their new singer a lot of the fans said that they picked her just to have a pretty face up there in front of everybody.  To counter that Nightwish released a music video where all the members of the band had been replaced by women.

I think it's funny at least.

The video claims it's not there, but if you click on it it will play.

Demetori - ネクロファンタジア (Phantasm Boss - Yukari Yakumo's theme)

I have no idea where this is from.  I don't know who the people in the video are.  I don't even know for sure if I got the artist and song name in the right order.  Basically the only thing I know for sure is that I enjoy this song.

I wouldn't even know about it except that a friend of mine on Facebook posted this to my wall after I posted a link to that Epica song from a couple days ago.  Go figure, people can provide me with music, haha.

Please ignore the fan art of whoever this is if it bugs you.  I'm not sure exactly what all is in it cause I had it running in a different tab.

Let's Talk 2-1-15

New thing we're gonna be doing.  At the beginning of each month unless circumstances make it impossible I'm gonna have a basic "normalish" blog post.  I'll talk about things that are gonna be happening here and such and stuff.

I'll still have a song attached to these kinds of posts, but it will be whatever I happen to want to post regardless of whether I posted the band within the last month or not.  Believe it or not I actually do have rules to how I make posts and stuff.

A: I'm gonna start embedding all videos cause I like the way they look on the blog better.  If you can give me a better reason to or not to, I'll listen.

2:  As you may have noticed from the last couple days miss posting pictures on G+, I am joining the A to Z Challenge during April.  I figure that since I post on the daily anyway it shouldn't be that hard to keep up with it.  Since I post every day though I will not be taking Sundays off as the challenge stipulates.  Instead they will be clearly labeled as a non alphabet related post and I'll put up whatever I feel like.

*  I've been reading in the comments recently and I see that a lot of you have been asking for......  Nothing.  There have been like zero comments.  I don't want to beg, but this does make me a little sad and I'd love to hear back from you guys about whether I'm doing a good job or not, ya know?  I read anything that comes up and I will reply to anything you send me, even if it's just to say something dumb.

Finally: I'm going to be doing more themed weeks as an excuse to post certain music in batches.  It'll be a great time up till I hit "Sudo-Symphonic-Blackened-Tech-Grind" week.

Side note, more freaking Nuclear Blast putting out good music.  Just throwing that out there.

Also Epica is a lot like Nightwish but with occasional harsh vocals, so if you liked them you like this as well.

Nightwish - Cadence Of Her Last Breath

So you might remember Nightwish from lst time I posted about them.  The Symphonic Metal band?  Yeah, they're a really good band.

This song is one of the same songs off of the album from last time, to be honest, it's one of my top albums I think I've heard.

Just listen to that intro.  Listen to it.  Isn't it great?  Then there's that part after the first chorus where it's just bass for a second.  Gold.

I don't have too much to say about these guys other than that meaningless sentence though.  I really don't know anything about these guys other than the fact that they are yet another killer band on Nuclear Blast Records.

Fleshgod Apocalypse - Thru Our Scars

Arguably the band that should be called "The Kings Of Blast Beats", Fleshgod Apocalypse is an Italian Tech Death band signed to Nuclear Blast Records.  See?  I told you they have good bands.

Now this whole album is really good, and there's not too much cooler than listening to metal with symphonic elements (have you all figured out my favorite genre yet?).  I only discovered these guys in the area of 2 months ago, so I don't have too much to say about them other than that I haven't heard a bad song from them yet.  Seriously, these guys are tight.
