Iron Maiden - Brave New World

Band: Iron Maiden
Song: Brave New World
Album: Brave New World (2002)
Genre: Power Metal

It's my birthday, so I figured I'd take the time to do a throwback to one of my favorite bands from before I started blogging.  I don't have much to say since this is a crazy work day without much time off, but know that I appreciate all y'all.  Have a good one!

Iron Maiden - Tailgunner

Band:  Iron Maiden
Song:  Tailgunner
Album:  No Prayer For The Dying
Genre:  New Wave British Heavy Metal
Language:  Brief, Strong

For the most part this album was one of Maiden's weakest releases.  Most of that honestly is cause the album as a whole doesn't sound like most of the rest of Maiden's music.  They've released an awful lot of music, but even when going through a couple different vocalists they managed to keep a solid sound to them.

For some reason though this album was a little more out there than what the rest of the stuff was.  Not out there like super experimental, it just sounded very different.  There weren't as many harmonized guitar lines, there weren't as many hard and fast songs, it was kinda weak.

Honestly though, I kinda liked it.  There are a solid 4 or so songs on this album that I actually like a lot.  Hope you like this one too.

Iron Maiden - Holy Smoke

Band:  Iron Maiden
Genre:  Heavy Metal

Oh my gosh, this is one of the funniest videos I've seen in a long time.  I've loved this song for quite a while, but I haven't ever seen the wonderful joke that is this video, haha.

This is probably my favorite song about Tele-Preachers honestly, not only because it raises some genuine things, but the way it opens with "Believe in me and send your money".  That makes me chuckle every time.

Iron Maiden has long been one of my favorite bands, I just haven't listened to them much recently since switching away from CDs.  It's rough to navigate some of the older bands on Spotify when they have a pile of live albums.  Still though, I managed to remember this song exists and if I can do that then I can get more Iron Maiden into my everyday life.

Side note, while the album this song was one is a little rough it did have a couple good songs on it, so check out the rest of them.

Iron Maiden - Wasted Years

Band:  Iron Maiden
Genre:  New Wave British Metal, Heavy Metal

I love Iron Maiden so much.  They were one of my favorite bands when I was first getting into my "Oh look, I'm so edgy" phase.  My friend Alan introduced me to them and back then I was all "Nah man, these guys seem a little rough."  He then told me to listen to Insane Clown Posse and if I was still thinking these guys were too much then He couldn't help me.

Luckily for me at the time I never listened to ICP back then, I waited a while before I poluted my musical taste with them.

Maiden though, I always forget how much I really love their stuff.  I really wish I could say their bassist was an inspiration to me and my play style, but he played in a way that was so far above my level back when I first started listening to them that I didn't even pretend I could play his stuff.  Heck, I probably still can't play it, though I might be closer than I was then.

This song is fantastic though, so please enjoy it.

Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be They Name

Band:  Iron Maiden
Genre:  Metal
Themes:  Death row prisoner contemplating life

I just realized the other day that I posted a cover of this song before I posted the original.  Oops.

Hey, it's a really good song though that I love a lot.  That could really be said of almost every single song on this blog though, so I suppose it's a bigger deal when I say I don't like a song.

There's a lot of bands that I really love and have enjoyed for years that I haven't posted yet and I don't know why.  Stuff that I used to listen to all the time that just kinda got phased out of my regular listening thing.

I'm gonna try to remember to get that stuff back in rotation.

A to Z Challenge: X is for The X Factor

Apologies for anything spelled wrong or weirdly worded.  I decided to try some Finlandia today and had a little more than I had intended.

So there's only 6 albums that start with X.  2 Mushroomhead albums, one Coldplay album, 2 I don't recognize, and this.

I didn't think I knew this album, but it turns out that one of their greatest hits albums has two of the songs on it.

The Sign Of The Cross and Man On The Edge are the tracks I'm immediately familiar with, but it's Maiden.  They don't have any bad songs really, since all their stuff sounds reasonably the same.

I mean, I really like Iron Maiden, and I have not disliked anything they've put out.  I've just enjoyed some stuff more than others.

It's also got a cover song.  My Generation by The Who.

This album was without the singer Bruce Dickenson, who is basically the voice you think of with Maiden.  This album had Blaze on it, who was only around for a short period of time.  Not a fan of him personally, but it's not too bad.

Just a small PSA

Firstly, Happy Thanksgiving!  Let's not get into an argument about genocide, I'm just trying to be nice.

Fear not, there will be a song at the end of this post.

So just a couple of things here, I wanted to let you know that I have.

1.  I have a nice little page that is a running song list of some of my favorite stuff.  Check it out here if you're interested.

2.  I have an About Me page, it's pretty great and stuff.

Ok, that's pretty much it.  Enjoy this song while you read!

Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast

In the week leading up to Halloween I figured I'd post some more kinds of music that would be considered evil by some.  Should be a good time, right?  Here we go.

With a verse like "666, the number of the beast" in it, this song is probably the song that got Iron Maiden labeled satanic by a good deal of people.  Also their kinda gruesome mascot Eddie.

To be fair, he looks pretty wicked.

Now I'm not gonna lie, these guys are all stage show.  Nothing legitimately evil about them.  Still, they seemed like a good tame opener to start the week of evil with.  Like really, this is the tamest song this week.  Hope you have fun with it.

And so it begins.....
