Zardonic - Pure Power

Artist:  Zardonic
Genre:  Drum and Bass, Dark Electronic, Metal

Here we go again with my favorite electronic artist.  I don't know how you feel about him, but I rather enjoy Zardonic's sound a lot.  It's crazy and Metal without being strictly Metal, and I like that a lot.  It really fits right next to my love of big dumb Dubstep stuff but not in the same way I live BDD.  It's more of a legitimate appreciation, ya know?

I just found out that one of my favorite Dark Synth dudes released his new material recently though, so be prepared for an album review soon.

A to Z Challenge: R is for Ryan Clark

Artist:  Ryan Clark (Demon Hunter, NYVES)
Genre:  Metalcore, Metal, Dark Electronic

I feel like I've made it reasonably clear in past posts that Demon Hunter is one of, if not my favorite, band I've ever heard.  Other than maintaining a solid sound despite switching around a decent number of the musicians in the band Ryan is my favorite vocalist second only to Randy Blythe of Lamb Of God.

Ryan's a rather talented fellow though.  In addition to being the frontman of both Demon Hunter and NYVES he's a graphic designer.  He's designed all the DH album covers and a great many other bands have used him as well (Alice in Chains being one of them.)

I really try not to fan out on members of my favorite bands, but since DH is the group that basically got me into Metal they will always hold a special place in my heart, ya know?

The reason I picked this song is because even though you don't get to hear his screaming style you get to hear his singing in the band that he usually screams in.  Enjoy, it's a solid song.

Megadrive - Slum Lord

Artist:  Megadrive
Genre:  Synthwave, Dark Electronic

This is possibly my favorite song from the Hotline Miami soundtrack.  It's really really really a song you need in your life.

This song was for a specific character in the game who was a detective that was slowly starting to lose it.  As the game went on he became more and more unhinged in his quest to find the elusive Miami Mutilator.
It was probably the best storyline in a game that really let's you put all the pieces together yourself.

The artist however makes some really killer music for what it's worth.  If you're into this stuff I'd advise checking out more of his material.

Gary Numan - I Am Dust

Artist:  Gary Numan
Genre:  Electronic

I'm not familiar with most of Gary Numan's material, which is something that makes me a little sad.  I keep meaning to check out more of his stuff cause I know he's been active since like, the 80s?  There's a lot of really good songs, or so I hear at least.  Eventually I plan to actually get around to that.

I'll listen to it eventually, but till then here's a song for you guys.

Side note, am I allowed to chuckle about this being post 420?  I don't smoke or anything, but I do find the number to be amusing.

Nachtmahr - Sklave

Artist - Nachtmahr
Genre - Dark Electronic, Dance

I continue to enjoy Nachtmahr, despite the fact that I'm still not really able to nail down his political ideologies.

You can't deny that the mix of harsh vocals with electronic music is a pretty cool mix of styles, and the synth line at the beginning of the chorus just hits me.  Not sure why, I just like it.

Side note, I just learned "Rocktober" is a thing, so we might be hitting that up.

Carpenter Brut - Roller Mobster

Artist:  Carpenter Brut
Genre:  Synthwave, Electronica

So like the other day, I'm still stuck on Hotline Miami's killer music.  No, I'm not being paid to promote this, I just think it's really good.

Dang, it'd be cool to be paid to review/promote music.  If I ever become a big deal I'll have to look into that.

Anyway though, killer song.  Reminds me of another game actually called Payday.  It's also got a fantastic electronic music score.

Perturbator - Future Club

Artist:  Perturbator
Genre:  Electronic, Synthwave

So I have this game I really enjoy called Hotline Miami.  This is a game about killing people in a really nifty bunch of ways and such in a top down pixel view.

I'm not trying to sell you on the game, though it is a straight up fantastic thing, I'm just trying to sell you on the soundtrack.

The soundtrack is a mess of crazy electronic music that really lends to the feeling the game is trying to give.  Each level has a song picked that fits the feel for each area and helps create a hectic atmosphere.

This song in particular is probably one of my favorites in the game, so I do hope you enjoy it.

NYVES - Fall Behind

So unfortunately these guys are really new to the extent that they haven't even released an album yet, but I'm really freaking excited about it so I figured I'd tell you about it.

NYVES is a project by Ryan Clark (Demon Hunter) and Randy Torres (formerly Project 86).  It's a dark electronic album and vastly different from the type of music that they usually play.  For the record, both of these bands are really good.

Here's the Soundcloud link so you can check it out.  It's only the one track that's officially released right now, but if you back them on Kickstarter you will get another track and this as an instant download for helping them out.

Here's a Kickstarter link for those interested.
