Alice Cooper - The Congregation

Band: Alice Cooper
Song: The Congregation
Album: Welcome 2 My Nightmare (2011)
Genre: Shock Rock

I was recently reminded of Alice Cooper again, and I thought I'd revisit one of my favorite albums, the sequel to Welcome To My Nightmare.

This album was really solid, and this song is one of my favorites.  I got it a while back and it was in my car rotation for a solid year plus.  There's a cool little cameo by Rob Zombie near the end as the tour guide, so listen for that.

Alice Cooper - Poison

Artist:  Alice Cooper
Genre:  Shock Rock

Back a few years ago I was really into cover songs.  Like, a lot more than I am now.  I was looking for covers of Alice here when I found a song I didn't recognize.  Poison.

I didn't find a version of Alice doing it though, I found some band called VintergatA playing it.  It's a good cover if you're interested, very russian sounding people.

This song is good though, and you should check it out for sure.

A to Z Challenge: W is for Welcome 2 My Nightmare

Alice Cooper.  I have mentioned him in the past, but I think that was only once.

This album is a sequel of sorts to his album Welcome To My Nightmare, and it takes some musical cues from it.  For the most part though, this is a wonderful example of Alice's lyrical imagery.

With artists such as Ke$ha, John 5, and Rob Zombie this is an album that is genuinely fun to listen to.  I'll mention each track that they perform on in my list.

Caffeine
Last Man On Earth
The Congregation (Rob Zombie)
Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever (John 5)
When Hell Comes Home
What Baby Wants (Ke$ha)
The Underture

These are my favorite tracks off the album, so have at it!

Alice Cooper - Under My Wheels

Alice Cooper, the face of Shock Rock, the king of crazy stage shows.  He's one of those people that your parents probably hated.  Or maybe you were the parents that hated him, I don't run your life, you can be whoever you want.

This is one of his older songs, but in my opinion he's a really consistently good artist.  Sometimes his stuff isn't that good, but I have yet to find stuff I legitimately dislike.

Note:  I have not listened to his first album or 2, because I've been told they are bad.  This does mildly make me a bit of a liar with the above comment, but I don't really care.

He's got a really amazing stage show as well.  From hangings to getting his head chopped off this guy has done it all.  There's been knife throwing, lots of blood, executions, ghosts, monsters, and duels.  I can only hope that I'll actually get a chance to see this guy live and not just off YT vids.

Alice Cooper, John 5 and others - Santa Claws Is Coming To Town

Yay, it's December!  December means a mild upswing in Christmas music, and by mild I mean it will actually happen at least 4 times.  Hooray!

Continuing the tradition of non-traditional christmas music this is another kinda metal Christmas song.  By that, I mean it was on a metal christmas album even though it's just a harder rock song.  Eh, whatever, it's a good song.

Alice Cooper is one of my favorite artists from like 5 years ago when I first got into music, and over time he's kinda been one of my regular favorites.  His live show is hands down the best thing ever and ironically, the older he gets the scarier he looks an sounds, which makes everything in his show work out even better.

John 5 on the other hand is a fantastic shredder of the very metal field.  He's played with both Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie and has a very cool and distinct playing style.  He also can play country style music, which seems to be really weirdly different thing than his standard thing, but it works really well.
