Band: U2
Song: With Or Without You
Album: The Joshua Tree
Genre: Rock
I will probably always have mixed feelings on U2. Bono needs to shut his mouth about politics and their sound, while it was ahead of it's time in the 80s, is now the standby style of worship leaders everywhere. Not really a bad thing, congrats to The Edge for developing a play style that's held on as long as this, but I'm tired of it.
I'll always hold this song in a special place though cause I straight up stole it's bass line for a song in church. I suppose that means I did the same thing that all the guitarists do, but whatevs. It's one of the only songs that I ever actually took the time to learn a part for.

You crack me up. So many worship songs remind me of U2 songs. You're not wrong. At least they stole the sound from someone decent and not a crappy band. You are also correct in that Bono needs to just shut his mouth unless he's singing. Most musicians and actors would do well to just stop talking in public entirely.
ReplyDeleteExcept the ones that say my opinion. Since they're right they can keep talking. NOT the wrongs ones though, they just need to shut up.
DeleteBut of course. If I agree with them, there's no need for *those* people to keep quiet. Just those other no-goods.
DeleteBono can also be strange at times, but they did craft some great songs
ReplyDeleteVery true, can't disregard that they've managed to remain relevant for the last 30+ years.
