Oh hot dang, let's get some heavy hype going on here for the new Winds Of Plague song!

I know I said something about an album review, but that'll wait till tomorrow since this was literally released on Friday.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting too much from Winds Of Plague.  It's been 4 years since they put out any music and the stuff before that was pretty basic, ya know?

I was happily surprised when I heard this track today though it made me change my tune.  While I've always enjoyed WoP as high energy pump up music, I wouldn't generally choose them as a favorite.  This track follows a lot of what they used to do in their old songs, but instead of slipping into their traditional Deathcore groove they sound a lot more... Varied?  I'm pumped to see what the rest of the album sounds like honestly.  They had this blackened vibe that promises to be a blast if done right.

I really would love to see Winds Of Plague live some time, I can't imagine their live show is too bad with how their stuff sounds recorded.  It might not be anything too impressive on a CD, but that stuff is usually still rather good live, yeah?

Winds Of Plague - One Foot In The Grave

There's a certain appeal to Deathcore that just nothing special.  I'm not sure why, but the predictable chanted choruses and merciless chugging followed by decent breakdowns is just something that I really like.

Don't get me wrong, the vocals actually have to be decent or else it's just generic and annoying.  There's not excuse for generic music and generic vocals.  One or the other I can deal with, but not both.

Winds Of Plague doesn't sound super generic so I can live with it happily.  I dig these guys because they incorporate a certain level of symphonic crap that isn't totally trash.  A lot of bands try to pull sounds like that off and just sound overdone, but while these guys might over do it from time to time it's not always bad.

So I never really knew about these guys for the longest time.  The only contact I had with them was people at metal shows actually.  They were a special breed of people because they filled a very specific stereotype.  They all stood at the edge of the mosh pit, they all vaped, and they all were really annoyed if you bumped into them.  Basically they were the douchebags of all metal shows.

The band is ok though.  As far as Deathcore goes it's not terrific for a couple reasons.  The breakdowns are kinda lacking, the vocals are decent, but not as brutal as I'm used to.  All in all I'd give them a 7/10.
