Ringo Starr - Back Off Boogaloo

Band: Ringo Starr
Song: Back Off Boogaloo
Album: Goodnight Vienna (1974)
Genre: Classic Rock

A lot of what I spent the last couple nights on (outside of making custom WWE characters to fight each other) was a website for a friend of mine.  Jess is a fantastic tattoo artist, and it's been a blast getting to know him over the last few years.  Not related to today's post, I just wanted to share his work with y'all in case you were interested in looking at some cool pictures.

The music we're gonna go with is from a certain Ringo Starr.  I used to assume he was the worth Beatle cause that's what people would say.  I looked into his stuff though and I discovered that he's had a much more prolific career than his compatriots, save perhaps Paul.  I'm super happy to have gotten over my initial dislike of the guy, cause he's been a treat to listen to.

A to Z 2k18: R is for Ringo Starr

Band:  Ringo Starr
Song:  Choose Love
Album:  Choose Love (2005)
Genre:  Classic Rock

Ringo, "starr" drummer of The Beatles!  I'm sure you all know at least who he is, but did you know he did a huge solo thing outside of that?  Like, he's actively to this day putting out music!

It's not bad stuff either.  I came across this stuff by accident one day because Ringo became a sort of punchline to me and my brother's jokes.  One day we managed to take the time to look up what he was doing in the music world.  I only listened (at the time) to the live album I'm linking a song from, but flipping through his discography has just been a great time.

I chose Choose Love because it's just a fun little tune.  When this live album was put out it was one of the newest release so the crowd really gets into it, as does the whole band.  Take the time to appreciate an icon of the rock scene.  He may not be the best singer, but he's a machine of a drummer and a terrific songwriter.

Side note, the people at school convinced the director that today was Earth Day so they could all wear green.  I'm looking forward to seeing if anybody catches on that it's just for 420 and that Earth Day is the 22nd.

Ringo Starr - La De Da

Artist:  Ringo Starr
Song:  La De Da
Album:  Vertical Man
Genre:  Rock

Hey hey, it's my birthday.  Again.  Woop woop.

I figured if I'm gonna blow my birthday post on writing something that's subpar I may as well have it be about my favorite Beatle, Ringo Starr.

I used to trash talk Ringo to death.  Like, my brother and I developed a huge string of Ringo based jokes that only vaguely had to do with him as a musician or anything like that.  Somehow he managed to slink his way into the way we watched movies.  We called it Ringo & Chill, and it usually involves some sort of cocktail, probably pizza, and a godawful horror movies to trash talk.  It's a wonderfully terrible time that pretty much is me and my brother giggling away at some terrible ringo impression of how we thought the situation would play out with him standing in the corner or something.  It's lit.

But in all this I never really listened to any of Ringo's music.  I finally have now and I think my favorite part of it is that it just sounds like the natural evolution of what a lot of The Beatles music sounded like.  It's really solid stuff, I hope ya like it.
