Kanye West - Monster

Artist:  Kanye West feat. Bon Iver, Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj
Song:  Monster
Album:  My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Genre:  Rap, Hip Hop
Language:  Strong

A friend of mine was talking about this song recently.  Something about Rick Ross' incredibly out of breath sounding verse, Jay-Z and Kanye not giving their all, and the DJ cutting the song off before Nicki's verse hits.

Now I, and my friend, are not the biggest fans of Nicki.  However her verse is hands down one of the best things about the song.  It's just goes so hard, it's fantastic.  It's probably the best verse she's ever laid down if we're being honest.

Skrillex with Rick Ross - Purple Lamborghini

Artists:  Skrillex & Rick Ross
Song:  Purple Lamborghini
Album:  Suicide Squad:  The Album (2016)
Genre:  Dubstep, Rap
Language:  Strong

I figure what better way to ring in the new year than bringing up one of the lesser loved movies of 2016?

Honestly, Bright is what made me think of this.  I loved the songs that Suicide Squad had commissioned for the movie.  The songs they added in it weren't the best, but the songs they had made for it were pretty tight.

Personally, this is one of my favorite styles of Rap, the ones with Dubstep beats in the back.  Tomorrow we're gonna hit a different favorite style, but at least for today check out this one up till the drop happens.  It's not too far in, it's worth catching.

Rick Ross - Dead Presidents

Artist:  Rick Ross feat. Future, Jeezy, Yo Gotti
Song:  Dead Presidents
Album:  Rather You Than Me (2017)
Genre:  Rap, Hip Hop
Language:  Strong

This song is a wonderful example of my hearing the flow of a song, but having no clue what's being said.  I have this problem sometimes where I'll just ignore the lyrics to a song and focus on how it sounds.  This isn't usually a huge issue, but when it comes to Rap I've been screwed over once or twice because of it.

I went to show my mom a 2 Chainz song once that I love a certain piece of, and it turns out the flow I loved came from the most crude part of the song.

The same thing is true here honestly.  I absolutely love the first few bars in Future's verse cause of the flow, but lyrically I can see why you might not want to say, play it around kids.  Bums me out, it's such a good flow.

A to Z 2K17: R is for Rick Ross

Artist:  Rick Ross
Song:  Smile Mama, Smile
Album:  Black Market
Genre:  Rap, Hip Hop, R&B
Language:  Strong

Every now and then you need a fun little R&B style tune.  Now while this song is about regretting not telling his family things when they were alive that doesn't mean it can't be a fun song still, yeah?

Discovered this song recently right around when I was making a playlist of melancholy music so I'm pretty happy with it.  It's not like it's a sad beat though, it's a really groovin' song; It's just that the lyrics are sad.

I apologize that I don't have much to say today, I'm really under the weather.

Rick Ross - Buy Back The Block

Artist:  Rick Ross feat. 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane
Genre:  Hip Hop, Rap
Language:  Strong

I didn't used to listen to Rick Ross at all, but then Purple Lamborghini came out and I really liked it a lot.  I guess I just had to find myself a beat I liked enough to get me into it, yeah?

Well I guess you could say that since this song has 2 Chainz on it and obviously, since Mr Chainz is on it, but I figure anything that gets me into a new artist is good, right?  Rick Ross actually has a rather good flow to his stuff, I've enjoyed what I've heard since then.

DJ Kahled - All I Do Is Win

Freaking 2 days in a row...  I'm very sorry guys, I promise I'll have it on time tomorrow.  I actually have an evening to myself so I'll be able to commit to do things like write blog posts.

So recently I asked my friends for recommendations for my pump up playlist.  I already had like8 to 10 songs on it, but I wanted to be able to get a good shuffle going without it always being the same, ya know?

I got very few recommendations from anybody however.  1 song that made my rap list, and another that didn't quite fit.  But the there was also this song.  It's very cheesy in it's pump up aspect, but it does serve the purpose of providing music that I vaguely enjoy that has a strong beat and has a bit of an emotional response.

I also like T-Pain, Ludacris, and Snoop Dogg, so this song is kinda cool cause of that.
