I feel like every time I talk about Pantera it has something to do with Phil Anselmo and his racism or something, but today it's just because I wanted to.

I trash on Pantera a lot, but honestly they aren't too bad.  They aren't as generic as I always thought they were or any of that.  Dime played really fast guitar, Vinnie smacked away on the drums while stinking drunk all the time, and Phil is screeching away.  Then there's Rex, who I recently learned is the bassist.  I feel bad for Rex, I didn't even know his name till recently.

Pantera - Walk

I am appalled that I've never posted this song before.  Like for real, do I even care about anything?  I love this song because it's a really simple song that just manages to get people going whether they like Pantera or not.  It's simple and repetitive and has a chorus people can just chant, it works in a lot of ways for people who just need to get people in the mood for a concert or something.

I dunno, give it a try sometime.

Texas Hippie Coalition - Pissed off and Mad About It

Now let me put this forward.  I NEVER tell you that you have to watch one of these videos, or even listen to the songs.  Never.

You MUST watch this.  Must.  No exceptions.

They sound like they're trying to be Pantera.  They sound like it so bad.

The Showdown - The Man Named Hell

Around the same time I got into Demon Hunter I got into The Showdown.

These guys have managed to make 4 albums, but then unfortunately have been in hiatus since their last release, "Blood In The Gears".

A Southern Metal band reminiscent of Pantera in their earlier work and finally falling into more of their own sound later on, they really aren't to bad if that's the kind of thing you're into.  I know I like it a lot, so obviously ya'll should get into it.  Tune in for tomorrows Southern Metal group that is even better than this!

Ironically, the main guitar riff sounds a lot like Pantera's song "Cowboys From Hell".
