I'm not sure what this recording is from, as it differs from the original on The Righteous And The Butterfly. I suppose they remade it since they've swapped out most of the vocalists at this point, and I suppose I'm not opposed it it. I'm glad I found it in the area of Halloween since it's a fun creepy video, but I don't really get what's going on with the track.
It sounds fantastic though, they did good work with it, so I won't complain too much about it.

I decided to fall back into the dark time of my life where Nu-Metal reigned supreme. Mostly cause I still absolutely love the genre, but also cause I was really dragging the other night and Limp Bizkit helped wake me up in a big way.
This album is honestly amazing, there's so much great stuff happening here that I can't even begin to talk about it right now. One of the things I like though is the Nine Inch Nails references in this song. Mainly the chorus, it's just a couple songs rehashed, it's a good time. Nope, not this song, my bad. The song I'm thinking of is Hot Dog.

I was originally thinking of posting something about Lemmy Kilmister today, since he was one of my favorite bassists before he died at the end of 2015. However, Mötorhead is a rather popular band, so I feel like that's not enough of a deep cut band.
Love and Death is a band that was formed when Korn's guitarist, Brian 'Head' Welch, left and found religion. He did some solo stuff, but after a while his band cut down to a much more compact crew, who became L&D. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the stuff he did with this band. The music was really tight and just fantastically produced. He's back with Korn now, helping elevate what they have going on as well.
These guys kicked in when I was full bore in my Metal Poser phase though, so I was a huge fan. Heavy riffs, a Metal icon, and also something I could play around anybody cause it was clean. Basically perfection.

I would be remiss if I went the whole way through the A to Z without dropping my absolute favorite genre of music, Nu-Metal. Nu-Metal has so much energy to it, and there's so many bands that do it well.
Granted, Nu-Metal is the garbage Metal genre for a reason. There's a lot of bands (Ill Niño included to a point) that just don't commit to the genre much. The main acts that made things work were people like Korn and Slipknot who have evolved their sounds past what Nu-Metal used to be. The iconic sound is probably best encapsulated by Limp Bizkit (one of my all time favorite bands), though there's all kinds of little sound styles.
Ill Niño has a rather cool sound going on. They have a latin vibe that not many bands in the Metal community have. A lot of people think they're from South America, but they're actually from Jersey. Fun fact of the day. While most of their albums don't really grab me, Revolution Revolucion is just a wonderfully aggressive work of art. It just exists to work up a crowd and get things going, which is my favorite thing about Nu-Metal.
It's just a good time, probably not if you don't like Metal though. Song's only 3 minutes long though, so it's not too much out of your day, ya know?

I'm in a bit of a winter slump right now, so I figured I'd let loose with a downer of a track from Korn.
Korn is great for a couple things. Chugging their way through everything, and contributing to thousands of angry emo playlists. That's not a bad thing though, some of the best songs are on angry emo playlists.
Honestly I really live Korn's music. It's angry, grinding, filled with angst, and just has an attitude of its own. Seeing them live was hands down a huge highlight of my concert experiences due to the massive energy they brought to the crowd. They played most of my favorite songs, but there's still some fun tracks that get ignored by the main community, so here's one of them. It's a good time, I hope you like it.

Back when I planned to post this it was because of some revolution that happened on March 8th 1917. It was ironically called The February Revolution due to Russia using the Julian calendar at the time.
I however know nothing about this event because I never took the time to research it.
There was also the Syrian coup d'état that happened in 64, but I know even less about that one.
Suffice it to say, we're just gonna enjoy the face that we've got this fun little tune to listen to, and leave it at that.
Recently, as you may have noticed from yesterday's post, I've been falling back into my Nu-Metal trench. I can't help it man, it's just some of my favorite music, ya know? The power and energy it brings to the show is just straight up jaw dropping at times. Sure it can be incredibly disappointing too, but all music has that.
My surprise band that hit me last year was Ded. I didn't anticipate having the opening band of a show manage to pull me in quite like these guys managed, but I was pleasantly surprised. What bums me out a little bit is that I'm not the biggest fan of the whole album. While I love this song and Anti-Everything, the rest of the album falls into the category of bands I don't enjoy as much. It's been a while since I listened to it though, so I really should give it another listen before I pass too hard judgement.
I do look forward to the next album though, because watching bands evolv in their sound is a freaking blast, ya know? There's so many little things you can watch come and go while they cut out their sound from the rest of the bands in their genre. And hey, if they decide to fall into the general generic sound of their genre, maybe whatever they do will be good enough to stand out as the good generic.

I have no regrets saying that Limp Bizkit is one of my very favorite bands out there. Their first 4 albums are just so freaking good. There's so many things about what they do that I just love for no real reason, ya know?
Like, as musicians they're all really rather solid. Wes Borland the guitarist is straight up cutting edge in the stuff he's come up with, and for all the crap Fred Durst deserves, he's exactly what this band needs.
There were tones of bands of the era that tried to copy their sound too, so all in all I'd call Limp Bizkit the winners of the Nu-Metal era really. Korn may still be around, but as far as go big or go home I think Limp Bizkit takes the cake, ya know?

In the spirit of everything ending, I'd like to put in a vote for the snow to chill out a bit. As some of you may be aware, I live in Erie, PA. You may have heard of us recently as the city that got almost 5 feet of snow on Christmas. It's pretty cool, we just got hit with another snow warning as of writing this post, which is active until 4 AM on the 31st. We're probably about to get another foot of snow, no biggie.
David Wolter - "Today's snowfall of 12.2" means #Erie has seen 83.8" since Christmas Eve. That is more than the entire 2016/2017 season (78.6"). The total for the month is now at 120.8." In a typical December we average 27.5." #Snowmageddon"

But yeah, end of the year, right? The time when you leave all kinds of things in the back in 2017 so you can move on and mature. You know, the good 'ol resolution stuff. Y'all have anything?
Personally I've never been a huge fan of resolutions. They're mostly just self serving things to make you look good in January on Facebook, but that's about it. I'd rather make sweeping statements like "I'm gonna lose some weight" instead of "I'm gonna go to the gym 3 times a week this year". It's more realistic.
But yeah, don't let me crap on your parade, have fun! It's party day after all, turn up.
Band: Powerman 5000 (PM5K)

Genre: Nu-Metal, Industrial
So I generally wouldn't sit these guys in the Nu-Metal spectrum, but I feel like this song is close enough for this. Hype time, this is a fresh track from the rather enjoyable band PM5K.
When these guys put out a new album in 2014 I was pretty sure it'd be their last one. Not cause it was bad, but it also wasn't anything new. This album on the other hand is a really solid entry into their catalogue. I'm a huge fan of the sound they had on Anyone For Doomsday, but after a while though that sounds got a little stale. This new album sounds a lot more along the lines of straight up Metal tracks, Rock tracks, and all kinds of stuff. It's a really cool change to a band whose sound was heavily ruled by traditionally industrial noise.
Sid Vicious In A Dress is for sure one of my favorite tracks on the album, but in the spirit of keeping it Nu-Metal I decided to go with the song that actually sounded like that. Good times y'all, check out the album if you're a fan of PM5K, Rob Zombie, or the new wave of Limp Bizkit where they got all angry. It's worth a listen.

Album: Violence And Destruction (2014)

If we're being honest, a lot of what Islander does just reminds me of Deftones and Periphery. This song for example especially, just the way it flows musically reminds me of general Deftones mellow sound or specifically The Bad Thing by Periphery.
This is a newer band though, which is why I'm including them in the highlight reel that is Nu-Vember. They're honestly a really solid sounding band, I'm looking forward to seeing what they come out with. Their newer album is a lot more straight up Metal than this one, so musical evolution is clearly an option for them.

Genre: Nu-Metal
Shouldn't be a surprise that I include the band that's probably the most popular Nu-Metal band ever. I've seen a couple lists now that have placed them at the top of people's like, top 10 lists. How they beat guys like Korn out I'll have no clue since they're literally what I think of when I hear people talking about Nu-Metal, but whatever.
P.O.D. pulls a special audience though, they manage to snag the Christian crowd along with everybody else. Not an easy feat.
I've always found their music to be a little flat, but I'm told I just need to get into their first album or two to really get into their sound. Either way, I have a couple songs of theirs that I like, which include this one. Go to town all!
