Metallica - Sad But True

Band: Metallica
Song: Sad But True
Album: The Black Album (1991)
Genre: Metal

I'm not sure why, but this song's intro riff has been playing on a loop in my head for the entire evening.  I've found this to be a good way to stop that, so here's an absolutely bomb Metallica song from one of their best albums.

This was one of the first Metal albums I ever bought, so hearing this is bringing back loads of memories, not gonna lie.

Metallica - Ride The Lightning

Band:  Metallica
Song:  Ride The Lightning
Album:  Ride The Lightning (1984)
Genre:  Thrash Metal

I suppose if I'm talking about Thrash icons it would be remiss to talk about one of the Big 4 without at least touching on Metallica.  Heck, I might even hit all 4 while I'm at it.

Metallica is a rather dope group honestly.  I don't always like to give them too much credit because I don't like how crazy mainstream their newer stuff had been sounding.  It's not bad honestly. I just feel like there's a lot of stuff that could be better done, a little less radio taylored.  Can't blame them though, they've got a great thing going.  And concert wise they're still playing all the good stuff, so that's cool.

Also James Hetfield is one of the best rhythm guitarists, for real.  The riffs he plays while keeping up the roll of lead singer is pretty impressive I feel.  Like, the guy manages to keep up playing the more complicated riffs on songs like Master Of Puppets, it's a good time.

Good lord, I left this on draft, I'm an idiot.  Sorry for the late share all.

Metallica - Hardwired

Band:  Metallica
Genre:  Thrash Metal
Language:  Strong

So we've got some of the kinda nice old school Metallica styles going on here.  I'm not trying to say that their last album didn't sound like this, Death Magnetic had a lot of songs with this kind of feeling, but that was 8 years ago.  Seriously, the fact that they're putting out new material is a bit of a big deal, and the fact that they're continuing down that line rather than going back to the "Modern Metallica" sound is somethign I'm really excited about.  And they've even released a new single since this one came out called Moth Into Flame that I haven't managed to hear yet, though I hear it's pretty good.

Take a listen, lemme know what you think.

Metallica - The Memory Remains

Band:  Metallica
Genre:  Metal

Metallica used to be OG Thrash Metal.  They aren't as Thrash anymore, but that doesn't mean they aren't still really solid music.  I used to have major issues with them for no real reason, but I'm finally over that, ya know?  It's all good music even if it isn't exactly what I want to hear from them.

Clutch video though, it's got that nifty spinning room illusion going on that everybody loves and the song itself is good to go with it.  Like yo, plain old Rock music is a lot of fun that I feel like I trash it a lot.  It's not bad at all, I just don't listen to it that much.

No Metallica fanboys, I don't classify them as Rock, it was just an example.

Metallica - King Nothing

Band:  Metallica
Genre:  Metal

Firstly, I love that picture.

Secondly, here's the post.

I only recently have managed to get out of my "I hate Metallica" stage I fell into a while ago.  Yeah, they may be overrated, but they are still pretty good and really, that's what matters.

I'll actually have that explanation post up eventually.  Probably on Sunday.

Metallica - Seek And Destroy

Band:  Metallica
Genre:  Thrash Metal

I realized recently that I've never actually posted and regular Metallica.  This seems like a travesty considering I've posted a cover, and alternate version, and that I've made it clear that I really like metal.

Hey, sorry.  Here's a really good song off of the first album though, so enjoy!

Beatallica - Fuel On The Hill

Beatallica is something special.  Starting as a joke that "went too far", they combine classic Metallica sound with lyrics and riffs from The Beatles.

They are truly unique in what I've found so far and they are completely backed by Metallica in their endeavor.  The surviving Beatles want nothing to do with them however.

If you aren't fairly familiar with both artist material this is probably not going to be as amusing to you as it is to me, so I'd say check both songs separately before listening to this stuff.  In this case, the songs would be "Fuel" by Metallica and "The Fool On The Hill" by The Beatles.

Metallica - Fuel

Metallica was one of my first metal bands I ever got into, followed quickly by Iron Maiden.  While I really don't enjoy any of their new stuff post Black album (which is a little hypocritical cause of this being off of Reload), the album they put out called S&M is without a doubt in my top 10 albums.

Basically the album is them playing a concert with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.  It may seem like an unoriginal idea since a lot of bands seem to be doing things like that, but it's seriously amazing to listen to.  Enter Sandman and Battery wrap up the show and they are seriously jaw dropping.

I picked Fuel for this because if you're familiar with the original you'll know that this is a purely enhanced version.  I feel like there is literally nothing wrong with this track.
